    Hi All,

This is my first post here, and an attempt to send Episode 3 into a new direction. I plan to assemble this, piece by piece, and I honestly don't know where it will end up. I figure, though, that I'll just go by my instincts and what I feel.

    Hope you enjoy!

    Take care,

    Jay

AU Story Title: Revenge? of the Sith
    By: Dredd Revan
Summary: An alternate story for Episode 3.

Mace Windu held the blade inches from Palpatine's throat as she shook off the remnants of the Sith Lord's lightning. Below him, Palpatine, Darth Sidious, the very center of the darkness engulfing the galaxy, lay back on the windowsill, whimpering in pain.

    "It's over!"

    "Wait...you can't!"

The voice belonged to Anakin Skywalker, who watched with the eyes of a terrified child. He didn't understand what was happening; he couldn't. He was just a boy.

But suddenly, Mace felt a tremor in the Force. Anakin was more than merely frightened. He wanted this evil being alive for some reason. In a brief moment, Mace allowed himself to reach out in the Force and read Anakin. The boy was desperate to keep this creature alive...desperate enough to do something drastic.

Mace then realized Anakin was more than simply a worry, he was a threat. And he had to be dealt with at once. In the next instant, Mace had an answer, not a moral one, but one that he would answer for, even if it meant sacrificing his place in the Jedi Order. He would lose everything, but if it could save the Republic, then he would willfully give everything up.

Keeping his lightsaber at Palpatine's throat, Mace turned his head slightly, looked past the boy, and yelled, "Anakin, guards!"

Anakin spun towards the door, and in that instant, Mace plunged the point of his blade into the Sith Lord's throat. Palpatine gasped, his eyes going wide, but Mace was not finished yet. With a flick of his wrist, he sent the serpent's head tumbling into the abyss outside.

Anakin spun around, and seeing the fall of one he looked to as a mentor, he gasped. His eyes moved from the body to the Jedi Master as Mace kicked it after the body. And Anakin saw his only chance to save his love falling with it.

Eyes blazing, Anakin flicked his lightsaber to life and lunged towards the Jedi Master, but Mace made no motion to lift his blade. Instead, he merely lifted his hand, and Anakin was thrown back against the wall. The back of Anakin's head bounced off the wall with a thud, and he fell to the ground, curled into a ball. He lay where he fell, trembling with tears streaming down his face.

Mace sighed and summoned Shaak Ti and the other Masters to meet him. He then kicked Anakin's lightsaber away and walked over to the boy. For a moment, Mace simply glared at Anakin, who seemed only moments from stopping their one chance to save the galaxy. But then, listening to Yoda's words from a time ago, he looked into Anakin and saw a boy troubled and lost, searching desperately for answers. He was not evil, simply lost.

Taking a deep breath, Mace turned off his lightsaber and sat next to the boy.

    "Anakin, let's talk..."

    Very good start. :)

Poor Anakin fell for the oldest trick in the book... It took all my self control not to point and laugh at him...

It is a shame about Padme though. Maybe she won't die now that Anakin isn't going to strangle her (I hope...)

If you plan on starting a PM list, please add me to it, as I can't wait to see what Anakin says to Mace!

Thanks and also thanks for reading!

    Here's part 2:

    Revenge? of the Sith

    Part 2

    By: Dredd Revan

This is how it feels, for a flicker of time, to be Palpatine, to be Darth Sidious, to be the instrument of the Sith's revenge.

You feel delight as Anakin Skywalker yells to Jedi Master Mace Windu to stop. You know deep down that the boy is yours now. He will not stand idly by and allow Windu to strike you down. He will fight for you, then he will join you.

But suddenly Windu distracts him, causing him to turn his back. And in that moment, you realize you have failed. You have failed because, for a moment, the Jedi have changed, they have adapted. You look into the eyes of Windu and realize that he knows all too well that his actions draw upon the Dark Side of the Force, yet he is willing to sacrifice himself to stop you, to free his precious Republic from the cloud you have spent so long creating.

You have failed because, for the first time in generations, a Jedi is acting on his own and willfully accepts responsibility for his actions. You lose because you underestimated the Jedi; they have changed after all. They have accomplished in a moment, what you and your predecessors had taken a millennia to do.

And in the corner of your eye, you see young Anakin, and you realize that you still have a chance. They boy's mind is weak; and although you lack the time to use him truly effectively, you do have, but a moment, to make use of him. With your last clenched fist of hatred and rage, you send a subtle suggestion, more than a word, but less than a sentence, to the boy's mind.

And you let yourself fall into the darkness, knowing that the Sith may fall, but so will the Jedi.

This is how it feels, for a moment, to be Palpatine.

AU Story: Revenge? Of The Sith

    Part 3

    By: Dredd Revan

Anakin sat in a corner of the office of former Supreme Chancellor and former Sith Lord Palpatine. Trying to ignore the stinging of his face (from over an hour of tears), he looked around.

Clone troopers stood near the window and doorway. They had entered to help the Jedi when Palpatine's personal guards, believing that the Jedi had assassinated their leader, rushed in to help. The clones had quickly disposed of the guards, and now they stood on alert, in case Palpatine had other minions in the shadows.

Anakin looked up. Two Jedi knights stood to both sides of him. They were ordered to keep him under constant supervision, until the Order decided his fate. Funny, once again, he would stand before the Jedi Council, and once again, they would decide his destiny.

Anakin nearly choked to fight back more tears. All he wanted was to save Padme. Now, he may have lost her and the trust of the Jedi. He just wanted her, but now he could lose everything.

On the far side of the room, Mace Windu and Shaak Ti stood with several other Jedi over Palpatine's computer.

"He's encrypted every file in the database," Shaak Ti said. "It could take years to uncover what he has hidden in here."

Mace, visibly worn, both from the recent battle and emotional load, sighed and shook his head.

"We'll have our best slicers look into it once they return. Maybe they can find some way to get in."

Anakin knew the burden Mace felt. Not only had the Jedi Master risk opening himself to the Dark Side by tricking Anakin, but after the battle, he had sat with Anakin and talked with him. Mace had drilled Anakin until he told the Master everything. Padme, his wife, was having his child, and he had dreamt that she would die in childbirth. All he wanted was to keep her alive. He knew Jedi were forbidden from attachments, but he fell victim to his emotions.

In the end, Mace told him the Jedi Council would decide what to do with him. His destiny was in their hands. Then, Mace apologized for the ruse and admitted that he would pay for that for the rest of his life.

"Master Windu," Jedi Master Lasa said, entering the office. "I just got word from Commander Cody. Master Kenobi has defeated General Grevious. The war is over!"

"That is a relief," Mace replied. "Contact all Jedi and send the signal to return home."

"Now, if we can just find a way to order the clones to return to Kamino, we can make things less tense here."

"I agree," Mace replied. "But we can't get into Palpatine's computer.

And in that moment, Anakin knew the answer. He wasn't sure how he knew, but it had to be similar to his dreams, entering his mind when needed. And now he had a way to gain back the trust of the Jedi, and perhaps keep his place in the Order. But most importantly, he had another chance to find a way to save his love.

    "Master?"

Anakin stood slowly, and both Jedi guarding him held their lightsabers up cautiously. Mace and Shaak Ti looked to him.

"Master," Anakin continued. "I know the order to return the clones home."

"You do? How?" Shaak Ti asked, speaking for both her and Mace.

Anakin shrugged. "I don't know, I just do. Just please let me contact the armies."

Mace and Shaak Ti looked to each other, then back to Anakin. Both of them then looked into the boy and saw honesty. He really wanted to help this time.

"Okay, Anakin, I believe you. See what you can do," Mace replied.

Anakin walked over to the computer and activated the com system.

"This is General Anakin Skywalker to all clone armies..."

Anakin then took a deep breath and recalled what had come to mind not long ago. Finally, he would have their trust, and in a moment, the nightmares would end.

    "...All armies, execute Order 66."

Wow, that was a great twist! Even in death Palps is a problem!I can't wait to see what's going to happen next!

To PM someone, click on the Private Messages link at the top of any JC forums page. It should be to the right of your user name. When you get there click on new message, which is near the top of the screen also, but this option is under your user name. When that loads, type the user name in the box that is labeled "Manual User Name/UID Input" then type the subject and the message (many authors include a hyperlink to the story for easier access.) Then click "Send Private Message" and you?re done.

Also you may want to check out The Help Section Which talks about all of the important features of the boards. Hope this helps!

    AU: Revenge? Of the Sith

    Part 4

Clone trooper CC-611 watched as another sheet-covered body was pushed past him from out of former Supreme Chancellor Palpatine?s office. He scanned the code on the side of the platform.

?Jedi Master Mace Windu. Well that?s the last one.?

?And Gamma and Lambda squad are dispatching the remaining Jedi in the temple," added CC-638. "Now once we find any that somehow survived, we can complete our orders."

CC-611 turned off his datapad and looked up. "That just leaves us with one problem. With Chancellor Palpatine dead and the Jedi revealed as traitors, who do we answer to?"

CC-638 nodded. "You're right. The senate doesn't have any authority over us, and neither do any of Palpatine's former advisors."

"Our orders are to defend the Republic and follow our superior's orders. And we can continue with the former, but we still need leadership."

"Directive 008," CC-638 said, seeming to stare into space.

CC-611 looked to him. "What was that?"

"Directive 008," he repeated. "Follow all orders from your superiors. And if orders fail to come, act on your own initiative."

"In other words," CC-611 said, "if we have no superiors, then we command ourselves."

"Correct, and we already have a chain of command."

CC-611 nodded his head. "Arc troopers, commandos, commanders, then troopers. So which Arc then?"

CC-638 turned his datatpad on. "I'm sure we all agree the one with the most field experience. The one with the most time in battle and most kills."

CC-611 looked at the datapad and pressed several buttons. "In that case, I know exactly who. And according to this, he should be arriving from Bespin by tonight."

    AU: Revenge? of the Sith

    Part 5

    "Sir, we've arrived."

The clone trooper stood saluted and left the one sitting at a console aboard the shuttle. He closed the console and stood, passing those troops who were gathering their gear. They nodded to him with respect, while the ground crew at the bottom of the ramp back away nervously. He ignored them and followed his peer.

Padme Amidala nervously watched as the clone commanders exchanged information about executed Jedi. The clones had taken over Palpatine's office in the Senate Dome and were using it as a rendezvous point for all troops reporting as they returned from the war.

"Jedi Master Shaak Ti...confirmed deceased," one trooper said to another who sat at a console, entering the data.

"Jedi Master Adi Gallia...confirmed deceased, Jedi Master Plo Koon...MIA...last seen making a blind hyperspace jump from the Munnilist sector...Jedi-"

"Excuse me, sergeant," Padme said and felt a hand on her shoulder as Mon Mothma silently cautioned her. Behind her stood Bail Organa and Jar Jar Binks.

The trooper looked up and spoke as calmly as she had heard in the past three years, as if the bloodshed and violence were everyday events. "Yes, ma'am?"

"I wish to inquire about a particular Jedi-"

She was cut off as two troopers entered.

"Arc troopers," Bail whispered behind her.

"Sir," the first trooper reported, "Blue squad reporting in from Bespin. Jedi Masters Gereg and Elcsa deceased."

"Confirmed?" asked the trooper at the console.

"Yes sir. Jedi Master Elcsa fell when Commander Blade discharged a land mine she was standing too close to. Jedi Master Gereg was knocked off a platform by Commander Blade's turret cannon."

"Well, if he simply fell off of a platform, how can you confirm his status?"

"Because the blast from my cannon put a hole in his chest. Even Jedi cannot survive that."

The voice came from the doorway, with as much raw emotion as one describing daily morning routines. Padme's group turned to see another trooper enter, and they all stepped aside as he strode past as if they didn't exist. The trooper was a clone, just like he peers, but he seemed different. He carried himself taller than the rest, and his gray and blue-striped suit seemed customized, with various weapons and patches all over it. His mask carried a number of dents, yet seemed more intimidating than any clone they had ever seen.

The other troopers immediately leaped to attention.

"Central Command awaiting your orders, sir," the trooper now standing at the console said.

"My squad's report is complete. Carry on."

"Commander Blade," Bail whispered. "So he Is real."

Commander Blade turned to look at the them. "Senators, your vote for a new Supreme Chancellor will commence in one week. How else may we be of service?"

"Senator Amidala was requesting information on the status of one of the Jedi," the trooper at the console answered, resuming his seat.

Blade looked to Padme. "Which Jedi?"

    Padme reluctantly answered, "Anakin Skywalker."

Blade turned to the trooper at the console, who typed something, before answering. "Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker...confirmed deceased."

Padme stumbled, and Jar Jar and Mon Mothma caught her. Blade eyed her for a moment.

"He was an acquaintance of yours?"

"He was her bodyguard and close friend," Bail answered for her, knowing full well that Anakin had been much more. But now was definitely not the time to reveal that.

Commander Blade responded, again with the empathy of ice. "Well your 'former' acquaintance committed treason against the Republic, along with his allies. I advise you choose your own allies with more care."

"Thank you, Commander," Mon Mothma said, helping a trembling Padme to the door.

As she got to the door, she felt Commander Blade's stare, a stare that seemed to burn through her since she had entered the room.

    "Who's the father?"

Padme, trying to stand on her own, turned. "What?"

Blade strode forward until he stood a meter from her

I don't have a set length in mind. Since this is an alternate version of Episode 3, I'm basically working on it until the end of the "movie," although if I proceed the way I have planned, it may go on a little longer than Ep 3 did. But as long as people keeping reading and responding, I'll keep writing:D !

All good so far, but I have some problems:

    1. Anakin issueing Order 66. That was an order that only Palpatine himself could give, probably because he wanted the pleasure of having the Jedi killed.

    2. I may have misread it, but it looks like Anakin didn't even KNOW what it would do.

    3. Alright. Palpy's dead. The Jedi are about to deal with Anakin. Going with him somehow knowing about it, what motive would he have to kill the Jedi?
