Don't know is this has been brought up before, but could it be that Aurra Sing was originally meant to have Zam's role in Episode II? It's really the only place she could fit in to the movie. But then that raises the question of why her character would be replaced by Zam's.

Of course, Aurra could still have some part to play come Episode III, but I found this interesting nonetheless.

I am glad for the replacement. IMO, Aura has a dumb, ugly costume.

Come on. Aurra Sing is a cool-looking female that enjoys podracing. If she has a keyrole in Episode III then why not Wald or Jabba's Slave Girl?

I prefer Zam, I don't like what people did with this character who has 2 seconds screen time. She's suddenly somebody who collects lightsabers? I just don't like that.

Part of why people made such a big deal (and later, so did EU writers) about Aurra Sing is the SHE is a she. Some guys get all bent out of shape, with any female characters (Lara Croft is a good example) and try to build them up into bigger characters then they really are.

Aurra Sing is in ONE shot of TPM, while Zam Wesell is the main target of the "Coruscant Chase" scene. And to make her mor then just a "Barney-dressing" assassin, it turns out she's a shapeshifter (a new character in the SW universe...as far as I know)

Should they bring Aurra back for Episode III, unless she plays some part in the downfall of Anakin Skywalker...leave her in the background. And I doubt she was responsible for Shmi being captured by the Tuskin Raider party.

NOTE: Just because I don't think she should be made in Episode III...doesn't mean I didn't enjoy meeting her at Celebration II (she was very nice)

here's my take on the situation.

It was suppose to be aura. But then aura became such a favorite in the comics, and people already complain that boba fett and a stupid death, so GL decided to let her live, just in the comics, and created a pseudo Aura for ep2: zam.

If GL introduces a new character, he will not have time to flesh that character out and wrap up all the loose ends in the 2+ hours he has to tell the story. Any new character that is introduced will be boring and underdeveloped. Personally I think we've had enough of bounty hunters in general, in the PT.

Yeah, all 3 of them in 2 films (one of those a 2 second cameo), compared to the 6 or so that were just in ESB, with others in ANH and ROTJ.

The reason Aurra had sucha fuss made about her was because Lucas added her into TPM at the last second and clearly mentioned she'd have a larger role in Episode 2...for whatever reason, Lucas (like usual) changed his mind and created a new character (yes, she is a shapeshifter and that is cool..but what was the point? she never uses that ability to her advantage while fleeing)

    >>Tina: I like ZW better than AS...<<

But, doesn't Aurra have those longer fingers...? ;) [face_batting]

agreed about the not needing to be new characters, and that the shapeshifting was pointless.

Also, what makes you think new characters couldn't be fleshed out enough? Dex had only one scene and he seemed pretty rounded out as a character (figuratively and literally...).

You misinterpret what I am saying. Dex didn't exactly play a large role in the movie. He had about 1-2 min. screen time. I just don't want to see another major character, like a new sith lord or a new bounty hunter or some other lackey that will get in the way of the story.

Perhaps Aurra was simply one of Zam's other forms.

Yes, Aurra Sing was the original Bounty Hunter that Jango made an aqquantince with but they replaced her with Zam for some reason.

I equate Aurra Sing's appearance in TPM with that waitress in AOTC...Hermoine I think was her name, no doubt borrowed from HP. She was only in the flick for about 2 seconds and she looks better than Aurra Sing if you ask me. She is just a throw away character who is there for filler and/or eye candy....either that or Aurra Sing is just another form that Zam takes which was discussed before but an idea many have.

It's great that EU has developed her character, although I would have rathered her to just be a "jedi-hunter" compared to a former padawan.

I think GL looked at where her character has gone in EU (Aayla Securra is proof he considers it part of the SW universe) and decided to create a new bounty hunter for this specific occasion. If you really think about the bounty hunters in ESB, they all are merely background extras...who have been developed into fan favorites through EU. Zam being yet another example of a minor character who has a brief moment in the overall SW saga.

Aurra was OK for her small part in TPM.

Zam was great -- she is one hot [face_love] mercenary/bounty hunter/assasin, for my money!

Even Boba Fett wasn't intended to have the kind of following he has recieved. GL has said that the popularity of Boba Fett was a complete surprise to him. So just because fans take to certain characters, which the author didn't intend, doesn't make them a major person in the overall story.

As such, the background history of Boba (and his relation to Jango Fett) were added because of the overwhelming fan desire to know about his origins. As a result of his fan-following from a minor role in ESB and ROTJ.
