Can you imagine how much the **** would hit the fan on the internet if they announced an all female Avengers movie? Like how many troll heads would explode? And then it's like, um, dude, it's been a thing for decades now in the comics, so please shut your mouth about how women are ruining your precious franchise.

And, yes, I would love to see the cast in that photo headline a movie. Plus Valkyrie, of course, who was presumably off on a giant green rocking horse when that picture was taken.

Pepper is out as Paltrow said she's retiring from the role.

    That leaves you with:

    Asguardians:
    Valkyrie (immortal tank)

    Wakandans:
    Okoye (veteran bodyguard)
    Princess Shuri ( tech genius)

    GotG Aliens:
    Nebula (space rogue fighter)
    Mantis (empath)
Gamora (time displaced space rogue fighter)

    Space faring:
    Captain Marvel (military trained powerhouse)

    Legacy character:
    Wasp (business woman, mid-level tech)

    Longtime Avenger:
    Wanda (magic based)

Honestly glad to hear Paltrow is done. Pepper is an okay character and obviously very important for Iron Man's legacy and such... but blech, I just can't stand that scam artist as a person. Really colors how I see her on screen.

not sure what they would do with her anyway.
now if they ever do bring Morgan back in some way it might be odd not to have her mother in at least one scene.

Well Morgan can be grown up and not really need her mother around. Maybe for a cameo, but it's not necessary.

This is probably a stupid question, but in the comics does Morgan eventually become an "Iron Woman"?

No in the comics it's way different. Morgan is actually a he in the comics and is the cousin of Tony, not his biological child.

Wow. That sounds.....boring. Don't know about you, but I'm glad they changed the story somewhat for the MCU.

Yeah, they seemed to have potentially merged the idea of that character (Tony says in Infinity War that their child was named after Pepper's "eccentric uncle") with the idea of Ironheart (who is a teenager named Riri Williams unrelated to Stark in the comics that built her own suit) but shifted Tony's semi-hero-mentorship of Riri to Parker.

Ironically in the comics, Tony and Clint are some of the few veteran heroes without kids.

Hulk has some. Spider-man had an unfortunate stillbirth. Wolverine has kids.

    Is She-Hulk related to Hulk?

So Banner's cousin, or Hulk's? If it's Banner's, it was just a coincidence that his cousin just happened to be exposed to the same Gamma radiation that he had been? Gotta love how comics try to explain stories like these.

Banner's cousin (the Hulk, being a created or unlocked entity/personality, wouldn't have a mother or cousin). IIRC, she got her powers after receiving a blood transfusion from Bruce. It's why her transformation isn't as extreme as his.

At this point I think it will be a few years, but the MCU will work toward She-Hulk.

Ruffalo has said he wants it.

And I think the OG Avengers are done as a team in this current incarnation of the MCU. (Maybe reboot in 2030, when Feige retires).

So the characters are passing the baton now, if they already haven't.

Cap passed the shield to Falcon. Bucky is now safe,

Thor passed Asguard leadership to Valkyrie,

Hawkeye has kids and will be passing mantle supposedly to Kate Bishop.

Tony had a kid and symbolically passed mantle on to Peter. Rhodey has the suits,

That just leaves Bruce, with his bad arm

Oh, we'll almost certainly get her eventually. I think they were even developing a series on ABC about 8-10 years ago, though the current rumor is it'll now be a D+ series with both her and Ruffalo.

    Yeah i heard that too.

More than likely it's years away, after the first four series are released

The Disney+ series really make it quite hard to predict what Marvel might do long term as they seem like there going to be directly involved in the main plot in a way previous shows weren't.

I actually think the most interesting question is what does Marvel do in terms of the tone of its future releases? I mean the Russo's have been making more serious films in the franchise since 2014 but these two Avengers films being so big is arguably something rather different. A climb down in terms of stakes post Infinity Stones/Thanos is inevitable but will audiences now expect the same kind of dramatic tone going forward?

I think a combination of a breather/new chapter and a continuation of the multiple tones/sub-genres is what folks will expect. The MCU works because, while there is a unifying undercurrent to the films, they vary a lot in tone to keep things fresh. The Russo films are different from the utter wackiness of the Guardians films which are a different type of comedy from the lighter Ant-Man adventures which contrast the flashier spy/court of Black Panther, etc.

It's unlikely they'd suddenly abandon that approach in he wake of EG and make every film uniform- it'd be a fast track to wearing out audience interest.

@cerealbox, maybe replace Pepper and Black Widow with Maria Hill?

    She'd definitely be mission control.

Also, at this point I'd say take Gamora, Nebula and Mantis off now since the Guardians are back, they'd be too busy with that franchise.

    So hypothetically:

    Wasp (business woman, tech)
    Captain Marvel (powerhouse)
    Okoye (melee fighter)
    Shuri (genius tech)
    Scarlet Witch (magic)
    Valkyrie (immortal strongwoman)
    With Maria Hill (mission control)

They may not be all around powerful as the original team but they'd be just as powerful as the second incarnation.

    Scout /speed: Wasp - Falcon
    Magic: Wanda = Wanda
    Power: Captain Marvel - Vision
    Melee: Okoye - Black Widow
    Tech: Shuri - War Machine
    Combat: Valkyrie - Cap America

But how would you do team dynamics (exception being Okoye to Shuri)?

I wish we had seen more of Sam and Natasha. They didn't have a whole lot of interaction, but what there was in WS and CW seemed fun and believable to me. Did they have any history in the comics?
