I don't know if someone made a thread about this.

According with a law in Michigan even you are watching some kids neighbors for free you still need licenses.

    [face_hypnotized]

The mom who was doing a favor could face 90 days in jail. Was a neighbor who reported her. [face_plain]

In here there are some links to the article. News

    Michigan

What do you think about this?

Yes it does, and Ohio looks like a diaper.

This was because a neighbor complained for some unknown reason.

In another interview the mom asked to the city what if a mom needs to run to the store, and have to live the kid in her house for a couple hours.

The answer was. You still needed have license. [face_plain]

I think the neighbor who reported her is a stalker. Nothing else to do besides getting in everyone's business.

Um, okay, the article you linked to said this:

This has nothing to do with BABYSITTING. It's about DAYCARE. If the mom leaves the kids there EVERY time she runs to the store for a month, then the woman needs a license. If it happens occasionally, then she doesn't. This whole thread seems like a massive case of "didn't read the article."

The situation in question sounds like a case of the woman regularly watching the kids for some significant period of time: every morning for a several minutes, possibly an hour, before the kids catch the bus. In that situation, even if she's doing it for free, I don't really have a problem with the state making sure that she has some level of safety, health, cleanliness in her household where she's keeping children regularly. I really don't.

I didn't read the article, but even if that's true, the woman never held herself out to be operating a daycare center. Stuff like: charging a fee for her services, advertising, hiring employees, etc. This is more of a case of either 1)Michigan wanting to bring in more money from the licensing fees or 2)the Michigan unions started ******** about the parent being a single "employee" should be required to join a union. Besides, I rather trust my own judgment about who to leave my children with than a States' judgment.

I guess every single house where there is a bus stop had better refuse to let it be at their house then, because kids spend time every day at their house.
