This makes me so happy. A band like the Hives, with so much pop success, comes out with a single with political fire. They do it at the risk of disenfranchising a portion of the music buying public. They make it really obvious with this video i found: http://www.chohomio.com

I hope people realize the song is about Bush. Now only if B.Spears came out with a Kerry diss video (i think she is republican).

A fine discussion, but it doesn't belong in Amp. Maybe YCC or Senate Floor?

Pearl Jam hate Bush also, they have a few songs about him. Especially 'Bu$shleaguer'.

Isn't there a whole indie tour about to start in the States with lots of bands playing, who are against Bush? Forget the name of the movement...

Who cares who hates who? In the end, it doesn't matter one bit.

I think it is VERY interesting when Bands come together in a common cause politically. It is more controversial and interesting to know the reasons why they come together politically, rather than a humanitarian cause such as LIVE AID. That is predictable.

Bands coming together against politics used to be really common. Just look at the state of things in the late sixties and early seventies with regards to Vietnam. Now that America is involved in a similar struggle, we're seeing a resurgence of the tendency.

A little bit of both, but mostly the second.
