    Anyone else think her name sounds like a caffeinated beverage? [face_thinking]

    Barriss Offee . . . barista coffee, what’s going on here? [face_dunno]

    The shot of her as an inquisitor…looks like 7th sister to me. And given she’s likely come on board after the others, the numbering system makes sense.

    Did she have an official name yet when she was just a background character during Attack of the Clones? Or did the name come around later?

    Yess her name been around since ATOC. I hope they do better with her character in this new show then they did in The Clone Wars. She is muslim coded and it always seemed so our of character for her to bomb the temple and hurtful for real reasons. I hope Filoni and team dont do her dirty again. I hate all comments saying Darth Vader will kill her, she is not there to be one of his victims. I hope redemption for Barriss Offee.

    I just hope she lives. They wouldn't bring back a character after 11 years only to end her in a bunch of shorts. Given that the previous season was about one dead character (Dooku) and one alive character (Ahsoka) taking different paths, I expect this to be the same: Morgan Elsbeth's path is already set in stone, and we know she fully commits to the Empire and dies, whereas Barriss may take a different path. Which the description for the series on Star Wars' website pretty much implies:
    "The trailer teases that we’ll learn how a young Morgan Elsbeth navigates the expanding Imperial world towards a path of vengeance, while former Jedi Barriss Offee does what she must to survive a rapidly changing galaxy. The choices they make will define their destinies."
    So I don't think she will fully commit to being an Inquisitor, and that's what I thought all along, tbh. And it wouldn't make much sense if she did. I just want her to escape and make peace with Ahsoka. Maybe if the rumors of the next animated show about The Path with Vos and Ventress are true, then do it there.

    Death would actually be disrespectful to the character of Barriss Offee. Ventress can give her a little hard time. But Barriss and Ahsoka has to meet in future wether in an animated show or live action. Two former best BFF's reunited and and comes to terms with each other. Forgiveness and redemption.

    I agree. I think live action really offers a great opportunity to have closure between Ahsoka and Barriss.

    I'd much better prefer animation, to be honest. Better set between III and IV, if the rumors of The Path show are true.
    1) The emotional wound is still rather fresh, so the story between Ahsoka and Barriss would be more potent and relevant, as opposed to 10 years post-ROTJ, which is like 30 years later;
    2) This is a more real, human, and emotional Ahsoka, as opposed to the enlightened zen Gandalf from live-action — so there is a greater opportunity for good and emotional drama;
    3) The chemistry between Ashley Eckstein's Ahsoka and Meredith Salenger's Barriss Offee is strong and already established, and it wouldn't be the same with Rosario Dawson, IMO;
    4) I just much rather prefer animation all around :p The characters look much better and everything is more emotional and heartfelt, IMO.

    But wasent Ahsoka Tano as Fulcrum just in hiding for 15 years. I love it but i think they Maybe go with Ahsoka being in isolation in a way. They might meet again in animation During years before Rebels. I do wonder who is more important for Live action, Assajj Ventress or Barriss Offee? Dont see both Coming in live action for Ahsoka tv show.

    I don’t want Barriss to pull an Ahsoka and somehow survive and show up post OT.

    The dark times lasted for 19 years, and by ANH it seems the Inquisitor origination is extinct. She could survive as an ex-inquisitor, but I prefer if she meets her fate even prior to Rebels.

    Of course don’t kill her off at the end of her arc in Tales of the Empire, but later on down the line.

    I wish I could love animation as much as you do. Only Studio Ghibli comes close to matching live action for me. And even then, only in their very best films.

    I’d prefer good live action but I’ve been disappointed by the visuals of the live action tv shows. I’d rather have animation that can fully show the scope of the galaxy then live action that’s straining its budget.

    Andor and Mando S1 and S2 looked phenomenal and better than anything in animation. But I was a little disappointed in the visuals in Kenobi, TBOBF and Mando S3.

    The spaceships in Kenobi looked like they were pasted onto the frame and had no weight or reality

    Ahsoka looked great, but if cant do her arc with Ahsoka in Ahsoka show the. Then they do it in animation. If dont see her in live action by then we probably wont get her in Mando or Filoni's movie. Her species is long lived so she can appear anywhere from now to long after New Jedi Order era.

    I think her arc in Tales of The Empire and a new show like The Path can give us great act for all important jedi survivors. Bariss Offee is a survivor like Assajj Ventress. I dont mind her surviving post OT as an ex jedi and ex Inqusitor.

    Live-action is all dull, muted, bland, and boring. It has this digital, washed out, gray look that permeates all the modern film and TV. The lighting is often just flat and uninteresting. It doesn't look cinematic. Take a look at George's original 6 films, how vibrant and alive everything is. And then compare it to the dullness of Disney's live-action TV output. Animation looks infinitely better and can afford to showcase a variety of worlds, other than desert variant #234 or forest variant #205. The lighting work alone blows any live-action star wars tv show out of the water.

    Nice (I've loved the cinematography in this latest season of TBB, for example). But nonsense. A lot of the live action material has looked gorgeous and cinematic, with incredibile cinematography. Counterpoint, on the cinematic front:
    Rogue One.

    Rogue One looked pretty good. It's probably the best looking live-action thing Disney has made. That, and The Last Jedi — even though I don't think Rian's cinematic language and techniques fit with the established cinematic language of Star Wars, but the color and lighting on that movie were excellent. But I said specifically about Star Wars live-action television. So don't try to cheat here!

    I don't think Mandalorian, Kenobi or Ahsoka looked good for the most part. The Volume is so painfully obvious, with that blurred background rendered in Unreal Engine. This is also the reason why they can't seem to use any dramatic lighting, because the whole gimmick of the Volume is that the lighting is natural and generated by the displays. Which makes it all look flat and uninteresting. They can't have a proper lighting setup, because it will not work with the 360 degrees stagecraft setup. They can't have dramatic, cinematic, high contrast light/shadow work. It's all either flat or underlit. In case of Kenobi in particular, you just couldn't see a thing. They even admitted that they screwed up the lighting, because of the Volume and because of the LED Lightsabers (which is another problem with Disney live-action shows — their lightsabers suck). There were some good shots in Andor, namely the Aldhani arc, especially the entire Eye sequence — but it's because that's about the only time they tried for something vibrant, otherworldly and visually interesting, but mostly it was just standard. Nothing extraordinary and fascinating. And that was partly the point, as the show was going for the grounded and mundane feel. But I don't think that's how Star Wars should look. Again, in my mind, Star Wars animation is the closest to George's movies. The vibrancy, the lighting, cinematography. It just looks right. It looks more live-action than live-action tv-shows.

    But anyway, this isn't the topic for the Barriss thread. Back to Barriss...

    Agreed. I loved Ahsoka in particular and I’ve been a big fan of live action in Star Wars, but I feel like the animated series are still somewhat aimed at a more niche audience and more willing to tell the stories that I like to watch

    I wish the animators would stop showing ships in perfect symmetry as they appear on screen. Especially Star Destroyers.

    When you see it, you can't help but keep noticing how often it's done.

    I'll take a well told story in animation or live action. Even though I am one of the people finding some episodes TBB dark, the animation is beautiful.
