I checked the Index and found nothing, but if there's a thread about this already lock and redirect please!

My FF is getting together to make Rebel Commando Troopers from the Battle of Endor. I was wondering if anyone had decent screen shots of the costumes or tips on making them. I think the hardest part will be the helmets. I have a few ideas but nothing solid yet.

When we're totally done with everything I think I'm making a tutorial for it. Been meaning to do that with my past couple costumes but keep getting side tracked.

i know partsofsw.com has a little thing about the helmets. the inner canvas part is an old flight helmet or something. i looked into this a bit for a friend doing a Leia Endor costume and couldn't find much. found one guy who, at one point, made one replica of the helmet but i'm not sure if he still makes them.

The helmet was made from a US Air Force AN-H-15 helmet. I got mine off e-bay. Just search for "AN-H-15" and it should come up. Also, the film used ones were size XL. I have a relatively small head, and it just fits snugly. You'll have to cover up the ears with black foam, and make a cloth ridge on top, as well as a visor for the front. Once you have the cloth helmet, I believe Richie's Armor can add the donut as well as the modifications, but it'll cost about $150. As for the "donut" around the helmet, as well as the whole costume, try asking Rogue 9 on the Rebel Legion forums, too.

I have one. I still need to make some pics of it though. It lacks a few details but overall gets pretty close.

The helmet is indeed the toughest part. Get yourself an ANH-15 in nothing less than large size. They are very small.

For the clothes, I used a white lab coat and beige pants, then spraypainted the pattern onto them. The original pattern was custom made as well. I got my hands on old army backpacks, belts and the exact pouch that's worn on the back. Some commandos wore a green-grey vest without sleeves and no lab coat. One of them had a different backpack, the same one the Hoth soldiers used, but with different colouring.
Boots are sand-coloured hiking boots and for the leggings I used the American WWII-type, which I bleached and weathered.

TK4355, I have not been able to find a lab coat as long as the one Han wore. Did you, or did you just go with the normal length version that everyone seems to carry?

The hero versions were different anyway. Han's coat probably was something far more expensive than the lab coats they used for the regular troopers.

I made some quick pics today. Looking into this costume again, I really know I'll have to redo the camouflage scheme on the pants, in correct colours. It looks wrong. We hurriedly did this because we needed them for an event (night-before costuming, you know...). So don't mind those.

Below pic is without the overcoat. I also didn't bother to strap the leggings, so they sit very loosely around the leg. I'm going to use a different t-shirt as well. The originals were long sleeved and beige.

The pouch hanging on the belt is screen-accurate. I was extremely lucky to find one of these. The backpack is an old Belgian army leftover. Not accurate, but gets close enough.

With the labcoat and matching blaster.

So, this needs some more looking into to get it right.
