Battledroids vs Stormtroopers

What cannon fodder was the most incompetent? The clone wars Battledroids or Rebels Stormtroopers. Not counting their more competent movie versions.

I would say battle droids because they were usually used in much larger numbers to take down an objective and generally were more dumb compared to stormtroopers but that's just because their programming
stormtroopers in rebels however have never really hit their target and in the clone wars battledroids have killed many clones and jedi even though it cost them 100 times more casualties
so I am not sure personally

 

I would say storm troopers. I promise I'm not biased. My reasoning is that while both the Stormtroopers and Battledroids have dumb moments battledroids have had moments of competence, like in "Rookies" and "the Hidden enemy". I still like the rebels stormtroopers, but the only moment i can think of is that biker in "Empire Day" and I'm not sure if thats counts as a Stormtrooper.

 

honestly tactically for the situations for war it seems battle droids are better but in controlling an empire and crowd control stormtroopers are better

 

like I say they're equal unless we see an elite unit of stormtroopers like a 501st or shadow or shock troopers like in the games

 

yeah, they would need some sort of Stormtrooper commando droid.

 

Would be cool to see Storm Commandos - i.e. the Imperial trooper version of the Republic Commando clone trooper..

I think from what we have seen, the Stormtroopers seem to be less competent. Though the Battledroids have had their fair share of moments! I think the battle droid humor was pretty funny tho at times. And tbh, I don't think we have seen crack Stormtrooper regiments in action - tho hoping we will see more of Vader's or other Imperial elites' battallions over Outer Rim posted cushy ones?

I think the Stormtroopers have yet to really be seen as a threat, so would be good to see them a little more badass. Of course, sometimes it is deliberate and part of a plan. It's also good to see situations where you see good guys in these groups. E.g. the battledroid who warned and sadly noted the passing of the Jedi Cad Bane was interrogating. Also the Stormtrooper who goes to Ezra, "Wait...all of this...for fruit?"

 

In response to the bolded part. I agree with you. Everytime i watch the episode the way the droid sounds just makes the scene sadder. I was also a fan of the droid humor, even though it wasn't always great. The fruit stormtrooper was great.

 

I find that difficult to judge, at least generally and cross-media. But ... I liked how competent the BX droids were (most of the time) in TCW. And the droid gunships were cool, if nothing else. And because I can't stand the Rebels stormies, my vote goes to the droids.

 

even the regular B1´s had moments of competence. Like in the hidden enemy or rookies. The stormtroopers needs moments like this.

 

The Stormtroopers on Rebels are frustratingly incompetent unfortunately.

Still a single Rebels Stormtrooper is probably a match for a lone Clone Wars Battle Droid. If it was the movies, that's a no brainer, but the Stormtroopers on Rebels are really dumb.

Regardless, the effectiveness of battle droids is when they're used in large groups. The cost of training and outfitting a single stormtrooper could equal 10 to 50 battle droids. When you look at it that way, the battle droids have the advantage.

In a feature for TCW episode Rookies, they say that an entire lander of regular Battle Droids used at the end of the episode cost about the same as the commando droids used earlier in the episode.

 

The point of Battle Droids was for their forces to overpower, outnumber, and overwhelm enemy battlements and forces. Their numbers made up for their automation, programming, and lack of blaster skills. The Stormtroopers were designed the same way, unlike the Clones who depended on strategy and their superior training/marksmanship to beat enemies. I think a battle between the two forces would end with a lengthy and costly stalemate.

As for competency? I think history has shown Stormtroopers to be a far more incompetent force. Battle Droids conquered Star Systems. The Stormtropper Corps, frankly, have become complacent, and, well, lazy, during peace time. The most combat the average Stormtrooper has seen is as a glorified police officer.
