    Which is better?

I've played Battletech for nearly 20 years now. My friends have switched to 40k and I don't like it very much, mainly because I don't understand the gaming system. I'm sure it's a great game but I still love Battletech. I grew up on D&D, Champions, Cyberpunk, Car Wars, Toons, and Talisman, but Battletech is still w/out a doubt my favorite. I know I'll eventually learn 40k, but I've also heard it's very expensive which isn't to good for my situation right now.

I don't know what battletech is but if this thread were about which is better between Mega Man and Pong I would say Mega Man, and I'd also say that it was a weird comparison to choose between, because they are very very different types of games. I like Mega Man X as well on the SNES.

They are both role playing strategy games. Very cool stuff. Dice roles and strategy, plus figurines, and map boards w/differing terrains.

I've never played battletech, but I know Warhammer 40k is awesome fun. Though a regular army costs about 200-300 dollars(Maybe more, maybe less), then there's paints, glue, terrain, the board, and core rulebook, and your armies codex. Of course you can also use your floor as a board, spare cups/random stuff as terrain, your freinds rulebook, and a smaller force too. (Get Space Marines [face_peace])

I'm a big fan of the 40k universe. I read a good amount of the material, but it's too expensive for me to get into the table top game. Solution? The Dawn of War RTS for PC made me rather happy.

The battletech universe's growing on me, though. With it, I've played a few of the PC games, but a friend of mine has a Mech Warrior pen and paper rpg going that's amazingly fun.

Overall, it's 40k for me, though.

This thread has nothing to do with that. I do own a gun just for your info. S&W .357 stainless steel and rubber grip. Bought it from a retired police officer. Still we're talking about role playing games. What's better? Battletech or Warhammer 40k?

Warhammer because it's logo doesn't copy off Robotech's.

Original BattleTech, not the new complete CRAP version with the MechWarrior line.

Gimme BattleTech from 3026 through 3068 and I'm happy.

The tabletop games are so nerdy that it scares the hell out of even me.

I still love having tournements from time to time where you are alotted 250 tons from 3025 only. Really shows how good of a tactician you are. Once you get to 3050 and beyond I think the strategy part of the game dwindles, because the mechs are so damn powerful.

Yes. We're on the JCC where this topic is perfectly acceptable. Pretty ignorant to say this thread is nerdy. o_O

I've only ever played 40k and I love it. Over the summer I'll be gathering my once vast Ork army so I can take it back to uni with me. I once took down a heavy vehicle with basic Ork troops once, granted I had 30 odd models shooting this single model and there was a lot of luck involved, but it was fun.

I'd start a new army if I could afford to.
