I have this idea to make a fully CGI Ghostbusters fan film where Beetlejuice and the GB's go head to head. I'm writing right now and was wondering if anyone had any idea's to add.
Here is the short of it as i don't have much time to type:

Basically Beetlejuice is released from his solitude to take over the world by two little kids who find a website that has a database of scary myths. Of coarse one of the myths says if you say Beetlejuice three times will conjure a specter. This takes place upstairs, downstairs one of the kids big sister is throwing a college house party downstairs, these are Beetlejuice's first victims.

One of the soon to be Ghostbusters is a detective, so this is what inspires the guys to franchise in Arizona.

Beetlejuice's plan is to banish the humans to the spirit world and release the spirits into the human world. He believes that it's unfair the spirits can't enjoy pleasures of life.

The Ghostbusters become very famous then for the final act must face the Juice for a free for all in the heart of Phoenix.

I'm planning on this to be a solid CGI film so the sky's the limit, and after i write it i have to pray that i can find a CGi artist to come on board. Anyone that wants to help work on the film is more than welcome (writers, artists CGI artists and animators, sound, ANYTHING!) and i will credit you in the film. It's mainly just for fun but i don't want it to be a crappy fan film, i want it to be a extremely funny and fun film. Something that fans of the franchise will enjoy.

Tell me what you think and give me your honest adult professional opinions.

My first flag would be trying to find CG artists prepared to make an entire film in CG for free.

I think this is ambious, but if you really want this to work than you should start by not just saying I am the writer let me find someone to do all the work for me.
Coming from someone who knows this first hand, Trust me. I didn't get any response to my summons for help until I did 65% of the work first.
Meaning storyboards, Props and script, costumes, concepts ect.ect.ect.

You see, while your story has merit and it would be a fun idea. were would it go?
who would buy it? I am struggling with that everyday,. People email me and tell me some vendor is selling my film. great for them.. not for me, I have never seen a dime from my effort, nor did I expect one.

Also Who would pay for the time people gave to make it happen? and I know I have heard this a thousand times," I don;t do it for the glory; I do it for the love of the film".
Wrong. Good people who work on your project should be payed. by money or by your willingness to work on their films,. As I did for M Scott. I never asked him for a freebee but a trade to repay his hard work, dedication and kindness.

I'm not trying to knock your idea, it's big . too big for free. try it with actors and have some fun!! and throw the ~real~ party at your house. than with light CG it may work.
Remember, people will believe in your dreams if they can see the light at the end of the tunnel too.

good luck to you and your project.

You can never go wrong in Beetlejuice's world, if you throw in a few sandworms :p

I am not just going to write this, I'm taking the hole thing on myself. I'll write edit do sound and i have some awesome voice actors, the thing i really need to depend on is the CG, i can pay but not much, i wanted to try and see if someone might of wanted to help out with the project just for fun first.

Someone on another forum mentioned flash animation but that would be a second choice.

Do you think if i post what i got of the script so far here that someone might steel my idea? If not I'll post what i got so far. I'm not a good writer at all.

What I'm basically doing is crewing up, i got a cast, I'm writing, directing, producing, and editing. I have someone in mind for sound. Other than that i could use a good co-writer, concept artist.

So if there are any talented GB fans that want to get involved, my e-mail is westsidenerd@yahoo.com

Keep those suggestions coming guys, i got a good feeling about this project.

I think Flash animation might be your best bet if you don't want to do this live.
I would love to see this live; but flash animation might be a nice homage to the B's
cartoon that aired on the networks saturday mornings in the early 90's.

Good to hear you got a hold of the project, I hope it works out for ya!!!

For what it's worth, this sounds like a cool idea to me. A good cross-over that makes sense. As far as stealing the idea - it's a fan film, and you've already said enough IMO for other people to kind of take the idea and run with it. I'm not sure I would just post the script though.

I also got a composer to the score the film. Most impotent thing though is the script, i wish i had someone to help me write it and bounce idea's off of.

I don't even know if I'm gonna do that yet but it's cool anyways.

I'm at 26 pages so far and the guys have just decided to form a Ghostbusters team, so this lokks like it's going to be full length.
