Just a thought, but do you think Leia and Luke's dialogue in ANH will be altered to where they say the clone WAR instead of wars? DTJ, any knowledge of this?

I wouldn't have thought so, it can easily be argued that 'The Clone War' is just a handy catch-all tag for all the various uprising and battles across the galaxy from the Seperatists and others.

I doubt it will be changed.

But the real reason I posted here is because I had to ask wether you posted this topic at 11:38am on purpose or not, so did you?

Wars are called different things, at different times, by different people.

How many people refer to WWI as The Great War anymore?

I would swear that when I heard Yoda say it in the theatr (in the film version), he said "begun, this clone war has."
That implies at least one other "clone war".

Some people say "he's old enough to have fought in the World War". But, there's two.

    It won't matter.

Yoda is smarter than Luke and Leia. They figured all the battles, in themselves, were wars. Yoda knew better.

I thought I heard the same thing in one of the trailers prior to the movie coming out. Then, we I heard him say "the clone war" in the move, I did a double take.

Doesn't Ben say Clone Wars in ANH when he's talking with Luke in his hut?
It would have been easier if Lucas just had Yoda say "Begun the Clone Wars have." in AOTC.

OMIGOD! Yoda uses the word 'war' instead of 'wars'. That's Prequel/Original Contradiction No. 3942. Bring me the head of George Lucas!

The theatrical trailer had that version of the line in it.

It was rerecorded by time the final film was released (I believe the first appearance of the "the" version was in the trailer for the Clone Wars video game).

If Yoda would have said "Wars" it would imply some knowledge of how long they would last or how many there would be. It was a grammatical/continuity error correct before the film was released.

Ah, I knew I heard that!

Are you sure the film version was changed, and not just the digital? I only saw the film version, and I'm pretty sure he said it there, too.

Positive- I saw digital, non-digital and IMAX versions and the lines was the same.

I can't see them making final versions of both lines, because, as they detail on the DVD, they called that shot the "windowmaker" because it was so hard to get right.

I always thought it was kinda silly for Yoda to call it the Clone War, when the thing had just started. I mean it would've been much better, IMHO, to leave the war nameless till at least EIII. But I think Lucas believes SW fans to be too simple-minded to put 2 and 2 together, thus that damn Yoda line in AOTC. Maybe it's just me, but I thought the line was very premature. And of course Lucas loves to point out the obvious.

Well t kinda is a "war" as far as EP2 is concerned, it hasnt really erupted into galaxy spanning mini "wars" yet right?

I personally do not like the line at all. It seems very contrived. It's treating the audience like they were idiots and didn't realize it WAS infact the clone war until Yoda says so. As if movie-goers didn't catch on to this until it was spoken by Yoda.

Darth_Maul_Sith_Lord and WookieDroppings, I can't see why you both have such a big problem with the line. A war has begun in which an army of clones is fighting for the Republic. So Yoda refers to it as a 'Clone War'. What's the big deal? (I wish Star Wars fans didn't over-analyze every line of these films.)

I just see it as how Yoda talks:

    Begun the clone war has.

    As opposed to:

    The clone wars have begun.

    Let it go...
