Recently a friend asked me to make a DVD for him with CG Movies hes made and I found that its hard to find good DVD Authoring programs.

What is a good program for creating a DVD with menu's that gives very profession results (not details but reliability, ect)

You need to give more information - like OS for example.

That being said, i have little to no experience with making DVDs, the only thing i've made them with is iDVD, which is ok for very basic templated stuff, but i wouldn't do anything commercial with it.

I'm eventually (after getting the $$$) moving to DVD Studio Pro 4 that's part of the Final Cut Pro Studio bundle. It looks really robust.

Good luck...but please be sure to include as verbose information as you can when asking questions.....will help people guide you much better.

In that case, the only one i've personally heard of is Adobe Encore. It's about $350 from what i recall.

I use Sony DVD Architect Studio. It gives some great results and plenty of options to choose from.

I would say Encore is the best if you can afford it. It integrates with After Effects, if you have it, because in AE you can build really cool, complex menus. If I were I would go for Encore.

Adobe Encore is the way to go. A great solution and produces pro DVDs.

Ok here the problem, I have sony DVD architect and it never turns out the way it previews (Menu items are in wrong places and stuff). I want Adobe Encore but right now Im broke so I tried to get it for "other methods" until I have some money. Problem is Encore requires SP2 for XP and everytime Ive installed SP2 its screwed up so many things that I have to reformat.

I use DVDLab-Pro, it's pretty good in my opinion and supports most DVD features.

That happens if you got Windows XP using "other methods" too.

Encore is a great program, with a steep learning curve. but if you are already familiar with after effects, and photoshop, then you've got it made.

you can even make motion menus in after effects...I love encore...too bad my dvd burner is broken.
