Bewitched

The trailer looks good for what it is, though I wish they'd gotten Jim Carrey to be Darrin. He looks much more like him than Will Ferrell, but he'll still be good.

In this re-imagining of the magical 1960s sitcom, Will Ferrell plays Jack Wyatt, a difficult Hollywood star who tries to have a career comeback by playing Darrin Stephens in a big-screen version of the classic TV series. When Jack sees the beautiful Isabel Bigelow, played by Nicole Kidman, he thinks that she'd be right for the part of his on-screen wife, Samantha. What he doesn't know is that Isabel really is a witch, which actually makes her a perfect casting choice for the role. Isabel's father Nigel (Michael Caine) is concerned by his daughter's interest in the mortal world, until he's distracted by Iris Smythson (Shirley MacLaine), the movie star who'll be playing Samantha's mother Endora in the film.

 

Didn't Nicole Kidman learn her lesson from Stepford Wives???

 

Eh, I don't know...cut his hair short, and Ferell would look reasonably enough like the second Darrin (Dick Sergeant).

But I gotta agree about the plot, it is WAY too clever for its' own good. I think the audience would have been happier with the cast listed playing the TV characters themselves instead of as actors playing the TV characters.

 

A witch plays a witch in a remake of "bewitched", but her father doesn't approve until he falls in love with a woman playing a witch in this movie? And WILL FERRIL? Why do I have the feeling that this movie is another cheap moneygrabbing scheme from narrowminded studio corporates?
