Does anyone have experience using a BYB lightsaber in actual combat, such as for a fanfilm? I need to make a half dozen lightsabers, but am wondering how well BYB ones will do with a dowel rod stuck into them. Any thoughts?

I used two in a fanfilm... you have to make sure the rods are very well anchored, or else they'll fly out and smack people on the nose if you're not careful (and its also good if your Jedi is not scared of being hit on the nose).

I chipped up the pommel a little and lost a washer off the bottom of a style 2 saber, but it wasn't glued on very well anyway, so overall, I recommend it.

the design of the saber isnt as important as its construction.i would modify the saber to accept a large set screw to secure the blade in place.loosen the screw and the blade comes out.it could be hidden or in plain sight, wont matter since most of the sabers get customized anyway.
i made a vader saber awhile back using plans from that site.it worked out well.

Saw this and thoght I might ask a question.
I'm working on getting all the parts for the Style 8 saber from The Big Yellow Box and have been unsuccesful in finding the economy shower head (at least at Lowe's).
Whould any one know where I can get this at or at least get a similar shower head to fit?
Or is there any alternative I can use for the pommel and still have the switch?

Try taking a picture and description into Lowe's with you and ask someone. You may also want to try various plumbing and hardware stores.

I found my economy shower head at KMart. You might want to look there.
