on this site: http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Nebula/4037/Planets/PC3.html it says: Concord Dawn Birthplace of Journeyman Protector Jaster Mereel, who later changed his name to Boba Fett. It is in the Aida System of the Krenher Sector Is it just me or is something wrong here? Edit: Continue the discussion (what little there has been ) in this thread.
Yes, there is something wrong. It's called a Lucas-has-massive-Alzheimers-and-can't-make-up-mind-about-things continuty error.
How wrong can you be!! Of course you aren't wrong, but that website has some problems Lucas can't be that indecisive, can he?
Thats who Fett was before EII. Then Lucas changed it all. Jaster is now all that is said in the beginning of the Fett story. He lead the Mandalorians for a time, befor dying infront of Jengo. Boba was then creadted in order to partially be Jasters Legacy, a new Jaster of sorts I suposs.
*sigh* That's not a mistake. According to Tales of the Bounty Hunters Boba Fett was originally Journeyman Jaster Mareel, and was sentanced to be executed on his home planet Concord Dawn. He escaped and became Boba Fett. Since Episode 2 came out, we know that's obviously not true. Jango Fett: Open Seasons cleared that up. Jango Fett's father figure in the Mandalorian army was named Jaster Mareel, and Concord Dawn as Jango's home planet. Jaster found Jango on Concord Dawn and trained him as a Mandalorian. After Jango died, Boba went out on his own. During that time, he went to his father's home planet, and assumed the name of Jaster Mareel, because he was Jaster's legacy. When he killed a superior officer, he had to escape and put his Mandalorian armor back on to become a bounty hunter, when he resumed his name Boba Fett.
At least 3 more books that Hamtaro hasn't read, eh, skawookie? "Could Jaster's Legacy have something to do with Jaster Mereel, the name commonly believed to have been Boba Fett's original moniker? WE can neither confirm or deny such theories, but rumors are now circulating that Jaster Mereel could have been one of Boba Fett's earlier assumed names. Not his given name" -Gamer #10, page 113 In the comic book, Open Seasons, Jango, calls Boba "Jaster's Legacy".
That story was created before Attack of the Clones. It has been sucessfully retconed in Jango Fett: Open Season and The New Essential Guide to Character. Also, I assume in the upcoming video game Bounty Hunter. Basically Mereel was Jango's mentor in the Mandalorians. Mereel was killed when he was betrayed by a zealous ally and shot down in battle by a hated enemy. Jango named his first ship after Jaster, and decided that when he had Boba, uh, born he would be "Jaster's Legacy." Boba Fett took the alias of Mereel and later even thought himself as really being that man. He also has Mereel's armor.
LOL, Ham when you edit, make sure you really do. We can all see that there is no edit marker in htat post.
this whole mess is created simply because Lucas is too good for the expanded universe and doesn't know how much history is written about all of the characters and chooses to competely disregard it. Thus people like us try and take the pieces and fit them together to make up for his errors
Hamtaro, if you would take the time to check the lit faq, and the lit index you would have noticed that your thread is redundant: Boba Fett = Jaster Mereel: http://boards.theforce.net/message.asp?topic=5635108
