I just wanted to let everyone know that I just got back from my local Wal-Mart. I scored a great looking pair of black leather boots for $50. They are a little shorter than what I was actually looking for, but this close to the premiere, beggers can't be choosers now can they! Anyway, they are called S/T Engineer II. They also had a similar style in brown. Hope this helps anyone who has had as much trouble as I have finding an authentic looking pair! Only 33 hours left... WOO HOO!!!!!
I'd love to, but unfortunately I'm new to the whole board thing. If you can tell me how I'd be glad to.
Congrats on finding boots. I just finished modifying the boots I had into Jedi boots tonight .. they turned out way awesome. I'll post pics as soon as I get them. Anyone else doing last minute costume stuffs tonight? Silly belt has too many pieces..
Hey, nice. I've found three different pairs of black boots that are nearly perfect for Jedi / Sith boots. The boots were originally either German Army Goose - steppers' boots, Russian Red Army boots, or East German Officers' boots. they range from 14 inches tall to 16 inches tall, and are all leather. And the amazing part is that the boots are anywhere from $10 US to $20 US! They can be found at http://www.sportsmansguide.com and search for them in the keywords dialog box. I highly suggest them, any of the pairs -- very good army surplus, and a very good addition to a Jedi / Sith costume! Here's a pic of the ones I've got, from the catalog: [image=http://www.sportsmansguide.com/images/51856.JPG]
Department store shoe departments, like the ones at K-Mart and Wal-Mart, usually have work boots similar to that style, all for a very reasonable price (usually between $20-40). I found a kickin' pair of black leather work boots that I used for a (rather drab) Darth Maul costume I put together a few years back. Still have them, they're pretty snazzy!!
this is probably not quite in the same line of work as the other boots currently being discussed, but you can also find tall black boots for men and women in fetish shops in the seedy part of most metropolitan areas. i scored a great pair of biker style boots in a shop like that in columbia, sc of all places, for around $40, in prep for my female sith/wanna be darth maul costume for EpI. glad to know others are frantically cobbling together a costume! good luck to all!
Here is the pic of my boots. AOTC kicks @$$ !!! [image=http://us.f1.yahoofs.com/groups/g_6908779/Costumes/Boots.jpg?bcbKA68A4q6jghZ8]
i got some that look alot like those . mine are 17 inch engenier boots . i got them for $125 . they look super cool and they fit my calvs . i have 18 1/2" calves from marching band in high school . the only thing is as soon as i sit down in my boots my feet swell right across the top of my foot . verry painful .
Ok, here are a couple pictures of my Jedi Boots. As I've mentioned, I took short boots and made them tall. Here's a pic of how they look from the outside: [image=http://www.splunkyard.com/cosplay/inprogress/jedi/jediboot.jpg] And hopefully this pic will give you an idea of how it was done: [image=http://www.splunkyard.com/cosplay/inprogress/jedi/jedibootsecrets.jpg] Total cost was probably about $50 to put it all together. Though someone could do the same method much cheaper by using cheaper boots that start out the same color as your pleather (I had to dye mine).
18.5" calves aren't bad. Try finding boots for a 22" calf. I'm thinking of just getting some custom made for me when I have the cash.
There's an equestarian store called dover saddlery or Miller harness who deals with a line of products called mountain horse. They have a pair of boots like the ones i'm getting for about $180. Cheaper than serious riding boots. Also a for me seems good since I can also wear them when I ride.
if anyone wears 10 1/2 and wants some obi wan replica boots from TPM... all leather... i'll be putting mine up on ebay, they are worn in and very comftorble to wear... [image=http://home.attbi.com/~jedi-stalker/boot3.JPG]
I was at Celebration II and the most complements I got from my jedi costume were from my boots, which I ordered from www.motorcowboy.com, who also sells them on ebay under "Jedi Boots". They're a bit pricey, but if you want accuracy AND quality, this is it!
JediHead is right, they are great boots, I have a set myself. However, I'll repeat what I told ~JAR-JAR-BINKS~ in the Let me tell you about Grand Prix Equestrian boots: "In regards to posting your link to an unlicensed dealer, I refer you to questions 3-6 of the TFN Costumes Forum FAQ. Basically, don't post links to the dealer unless you have asked their permission first."
Yeah, the motorcowboy.com boots are great, custom-made boots. I've got platypus feet, it's great to have a good-looking pair of boots that actually fit! Especially when wearing them for four days, at this past weekend's Dragon*Con
I just found this great, realatively cheap ($139) pair of boots that would make perfect Jedi boots: [image=http://www.spiegel.com/assets/product_images/product_detail/0332548.jpg] Here's where you can find more info on them (sorry for the cut & paste -- too long to link): http://www.spiegel.com/shop/style.asp?style_id=71068&index=2&nav_cat_id=455&gp_cat_id=284&category_id=456 They are women's boots, but if you wear a men's size 9 or lower, they should fit as well.
Anyone know of a place that makes good Mace Windu boots? Here's the best pic I could find: [image=http://www.padawansguide.com/gifs/mace_insidercover.jpg] !snap
Wow! Those Spiegel boots are the closest thing yet in a commercially produced boot! Thanks for sharing your find.
Hey guys, I have a pair of the motorcowboy Obi-Wan boots that I'd be willing to sell for half my cost. I only wore them once for a couple hours, so they're not even broken in yet. They're size 9 women's or 7 1/2 men's. If interested, email me at schaulkr@earthlink.net
