Since there are a bunch of film music gurus in here, I was hoping someone might be able to help me with something. Right now, I'm working on a comedic reedit of the Brokeback Mountain trailer with a Star Wars theme. To pull this off, I will need all the BG music that appears in the original Brokeback Mountain trailer. So far, I know that Gustavo Santaolalla's "The Wings" from the actual BB Mountain soundtrack is used and music from Thomas Newman's Shawshank Redemption appears at the end. What I'm trying to figure out is where the music at the beginning of the trailer is from. This music lasts from the start of the trailer up until Heath Ledger falls off his horse. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

According to soundtrack.net, the only sources are from the two films you mentioned

Brokeback Mountain (2005) - Gustavo Santaolalla
The Shawshank Redemption (1994) - Thomas Newman

    EDIT: According to another site,

"First of there is two, I repeat 2 songs which are different in this trailer. The song from The Shawshank redemption which opens the trailer is called "So Was Red" by Thomas Newman he's the composer... buttttt I can't find the other song, the one that starts when Ennis is thrown off the horse. As this forum says, it is composed by Gustavo Santaolalla, but I don't kno the title. I listened to some of his other stuff and I definitley think that it's his music. GAH it's such a good song!"

Apologies for the use of "song", but he seems to thing Shawshank is at the start

Yeah I read both of those sources and the track the second dude mentions is not used at the beginning. In fact, it isn't in the trailer at all. I have no idea where that first piece of music is from. I may have to start the trailer on "The Wings" like was done for the Brokeback to the Future parody. Hopefully that piece of music will turn up.
