I noticed that despite KDY and Kuat being canon and as per RotS Senator movie canon even or TCW tv canon, Disney prefers to use Corellia as Imperial Shipyard as ANH referenced the big corellian made cruisers and the EGtW retconned them subcontracting for KDY too but with better quality output than them. Now Trevorrows Duel of the Fates Episode IX would have shown a lot of KDY and Kuat. Will KDY anytime soon return to galactic importance? Screentimewise that is? Gesendet von meinem FP3 mit Tapatalk
I mean it was important in Aftermath II; Kuat's fall was a significant blow. Corellia built Star Destroyers, we knew that since ANH so it follows.
I always wondered, why did the Legends EU have KDY as the designers and builders of Star Destroyers, when ANH very much seemed to imply that "big Corellian ships" were the Star Destroyers?
I think it's interesting that Corellia was used. It inclines us to assume they weren't full of imperial infiltrators.
EU-wise they'll keep going for a long time considering they build the First Order and Sith Eternal fleets, at least they do as Kuat-Entralla.
It's a good question. It stems back to the WEG Star Wars Sourcebook, which was the first source to establish that KDY manufactured Star Destroyers (first source to ever mention KDY, in fact) and was the first time the "big Corellian ships" reference was seemingly missed. Who knows why, although here's a true story: to my ears, it has never sounded like Han says "Corellian." I know that's the line because I read The Art of Star Wars a zillion times and that's what's in the script, but it always sounds to me like Harrison Ford is saying "Kerellium" or something to that effect. He kind of mumbles the word, as if he's uncertain how to say it (tying directly to his famous quote to GL - "You can type this ****, but you sure as hell can't say it"). I wonder if Curtis Smith and Bill Slavicsek, the authors of the Sourcebook, similarly misheard the line and from there just didn't make the connection? Sort of a weird, random little theory, but who knows?
@Dream-Thinker - yup, mentioned in Star Wars: Resistance Reborn and confirmed in Star Wars Timelines as almost immediately after the First Order goes public.
Pretty much fits with their secession-of-the-decade motif from the EU, though. Bunch of malcontents, you ask me.
Come to think of it - they make a crapton of cash by building death machines. You can't say you didn't know a Star Destroyer was bad. So joining the FO, to build the even bigger bastard Star Destroyers and get paid for doing so? Yep, checks out.
How i miss Corellia putting Coruscant and Alsakan into their place and ending their conflicts.... By force! As to the Stardestroyers, i guess we need a new gimmick for Kuat to return to fame. Even if their Legends lore still exists in Disney, Kuats role needs expansion. Its Senator was talking with Mon Mothma and Bail and Padme in RotS. Bounty Hunter Wars Trilogy had it switch sides way too easily. Despite Imperial company its politics were more complex and pro Rebel at times. Maybe we should bring back and expand on its rich culture like the Telbun system. Or their secret control codes for all vessels they built. Which may not account for or work on corellian made KDY stuff which is why the Empire had KDY built there a lot too maybe? Gesendet von meinem FP3 mit Tapatalk
17 times for each Alsakan Conflict; once joining the Second Sith Empire; another secession in 500 BBY, a further in 22 BBY, let alone in 18 ABY and then 40 ABY.
Yes because that’s what they are hired to do. It’s not like they can write about whatever they want. That’s not how publishing works. High republic ends at least as a major publishing initiative after Phase 3. In 2025 if I recall.
The idea that DR is only putting out HR is total bollocks, they've put out more non-HR books across the same span. There's been five HR novels, in the same time there's been at least one Thrawn Ascendancy book, Princess & Scoundrel, Brotherhood, Shadow of the Sith, Jedi: Battle Scars, Inquisitor: Rise of the Red Blade.
