C-3PO's golden leg?

When I first saw attack of the clones and saw three-pio I thought it explained why he has one silver leg in the OT cause he was made up of all kinds of materials but then when episode III came out he dosent have that silver leg he's all gold from head to toe was this a mistake or is the reason why he gots that leg in the EU

 

If it was purposeful it was probably to make Threepio look like he was in better condition that he was in the Original Trilogy.

 

In A New Hope he was twenty or so years older and wasn't as well maintained as he was back when he was the senator's personal protocol droid.

 

It's been 19 years since ROTS. It's not inconceivable that he needed a replacement leg at some point during that time.

 

Perhaps this is better suited for the Classic Trilogy forum. SW Saga is intended for discussions of concepts and themes which bridge all six films rather than concentrating on narrower aspects of certain movies. The posters over in the other forum might be more helpful to you (or there could be an EU answerto the question.)

Personally, I have no idea. A lot of time has lapsed and droids do need to be maintained and fixed.

I've heard that it was intentional that 3PO's leg would be silver in various parts of the enitre saga. Partly to show his "age" and that repairs were made over the years and that he isn't always clean shiny gold all the time.

 

I don't have a good reason for why his leg is silver. Other than what he says to Luke when he cleaning R2.

Luke- "Looks like you boys have seen alot of action."

3Po- "We're lucky to be in one peice with all we've been through. With the Rebellion and all."

Clearly the 2 droids have gone through a rough patch.
