C-3PO's lines are classic, IMO

Call me lame, but I love C-3PO's humor in Attack of the Clones. "Oh, this is such a drag!", "I'm quite beside myself", "Have you no sense at all? Oh, idiot!", "I'm so confused"...

I honestly crack up everytime I hear these lines. Agree? Disagree? Don't care? Leaving? Hey, come back here!

They would be good in moderation, but I think they were a few too many. The first couple were good, though.

That "shut me down!" line took me by surprise. It was atleast to me, bordering on funny and crude at the same time.[face_devil]

I prefer the "malfunctioning little twerp" to "idiot", which sounds lame. "Shut me down etc." wasn't good. But all the lines of 3P0 in the middle of AOTC arena battle were really funny, I liked them. There's so much action and fighting, and it's just nice that there's some humor in the middle of it.
"Die, jedi dogs! Oh, what am I saying?" :p

Thank God! I'm not crazy! I think I've been going to too many basher threads. ;)

I always loved his lines. I don't see why people say they're not C3PO's style. They're more C3PO than ever. :p They're not laugh out loud funny, at least not after a while, but none of his lines are. They're just good humor to lighten up the mood, and always get a chuckle out of me.

    I agree. Threepio´s back and he´s BAD!

(I mean bad in a good way of course, don´t take me for a basher ;))

    - Bless my circuits, it´s so good to see you both!

It´s cool, BTW, how the line "Shut me down" seems to be a respond to Han´s "Shut him up or shut him down" in TESB!

I agree with you 100% ST. C-3PO has always been my favorite character and I love seeing and hearing from him as much as possible. His humor in AOTC is priceless, and I am hoping for more of the same in Episode III - where hopefully - he'll have a much larger role, ala the OT.

    Mace Windy,
    too windy for spoilers!

rgard32 - May I assume that when all the Rebel troopers were dying at the beginning of ANH, and Threepio was running around whining and acting stupid, that you were equally irritated with the film?

Anyway... I think Threepio's antics in the arena are his best moments ever. I was HOWLING with laughter. [face_laugh] [face_laugh] :D

Remember kids, droid abuse is funny!

    Rick McCallum loves you!

Where was this scene exactly? Unless my memory is fooling me, his antics stop when the battle starts to turn around. Before that, we pretty much see the Jedi taking care of business.

When his head is stuck on one of the droid bodies, and his body has a droid head on it. Its just his dialogue thats funny :D

The funniest line (which incidently isn't 3PO) is the "I need maintenance", my girlfriend and I ****** ourselves at that one [face_laugh]

The true barometer of how entertaining any lines in any film, are how they are received by a live audience in the theater.

At almost every screening of AOTC I went to, there was a pretty good reaction to all of Theepio's lines. I admit, I laughed out loud at the "This is such a drag" line ;)

My favorite though is "How perverse." :D

He's funny in the droid factory, and at the begining of the arena battle, but at the end when he sits up and says "I've just had the most pecular dream", it totaly ruins the mood when they cut to Boba with his father's helmet.

    Bad choices were made.

When Artoo trundled up next to Threepio's head, I was wondering what he'd do. Then that little suction cup shoots out, and the way Threepio is complaining as Artoo tries to yank his head off...and the comedy 'thunk!'...priceless. Great visual with Artoo dragging the head along behind him, too.

I also liked 3PO in AOTC, I don't see how he was different in the OT.

I especially liked "Die Jedi dogs... What did I say. O dear.. I am terribly sorry about this" :p

data68: I don´t think that ruins it at all. I don´t see that line as comedy, but as something lighthearted to contrast with the following shot of Boba picking up Jango´s helmet. It makes the war more absurd and real to me, because in real life wars, there are tragedies and happy moments going on at the same time.

MacDaddy: I agree, that line is extremely funny!

Some of them, when I think about them now, seem a little corny. But at the time I was laughing like crazy. The whole scene together cracks me up, it's only cheesy if I think about it.

I'm surprised someone likes them! I'm a huge AOTC gusher and holistic AOTC lover, but I still don't even like what he says! But I'm glad someone does

It's funny, it kinda reminds me of the flak Threepio got in the OT at the time. Him doing stuff like chirping "Ohh! He's been frozen in carbonite!" during one of ESB's most serious scenes really didn't go down so well at the time.
These days, it's just seen as acting in character :)
