Who would be the most powerful bounty hunter of the PT era? Now, before people automatically say Jango because he is in AOTC, consider this. In TCW, which is canon, Count Dooku says that Cad Bane is esteemed as the best bounty hunter in the galaxy (Season 4. Rako Hardeen Arc) Now perhaps they excluded Jango because he has been dead for a couple years. Regardless, I think this puts them in the same league. Both are skilled opponents. Who wins?
Count Dooku thought he was better then Jango, he would've made him the blueprint of the clone army instead of Jango.
Do you know in which season Dooku says that specifically? Is it in the Rako Hardeen arc in Season 4 or elsewhere?
Bane wasn't a bounty hunter when Jango was recruited as the template. Bane started his career about a year before the Battle Of Geonosis.
IMO, Cad Bane is too egotistical and anti-authority to be a good soldier, so I wouldn't choose him as a template for the clones.
Well the Kaminoans did get rid of the bad traits in Jango Fett. Still Jango was an overall better pick. He was Mandalorian, some of the best warriors the Galaxy had ever seen. Dooku saw him kill 6 Jedi with his bare hands at the Battle Of Galidraan and he was the top bounty hunter in the galaxy. Cad Bane was good, but he never possed the skills that made him the perfect soldier (not to mention Bane didn't start his career for another few years after Jango was choosen). If Sidious was looking for a small group of spies or agents Cad Bane would be a fine template, but a soldier? Jango would have been the obvious pick if it was between those two. In a fight Jango I say would still take this, with you know the whole killing 6 Jedi unarmed thing. Now the big question is, why the hell didn't Sidious make clones of Durge? (lol)
That's correct. "In the final years of the Republic, Jango Fett was regarded as the best bounty hunter in the galaxy." Source Once he was killed, Bane took the top spot. That's a baseless assumption.
Well if we just use on screen evidence, Bane takes it. We have never seen Jango in much action. But that doesn't mean Jango is worst. I am just using the on screen evidence. Meaning what we see this guys do on visual media. But I personally think they are both great at what they do.
I agree with Andy. Based on what we've actually seen them do, Bane would come out on top. It's definitely possible that Jango is the better of the two, though.
Not baseless, slightly incorrect but not baseless. Turns out he started 24 bby rather than 21 bby. I read it wrong on the wookie page. Still though if my memory serves me correctly Jango was recruited a bit before 32 bby. From Wookiepedia- "The Duros male Cad Bane lived during the last decades of the Galactic Republic and hailed from the planet Duro. He grew up on New Tayana, a space city orbiting the polluted surface of Duro. As a resident of the Descent Ghetto, his best friend became fellow Duros Soopan.[7] He entered bounty hunting[5] by the year 24 BBY,[8] beginning his career by tracking down bail jumpers and other low-level criminals in the slums of his hometown.[9] When he eventually left New Tayana, he swore he would never return.[7] Although he became attached to the financial reward of his missions, Bane recognized that a reputation would be necessary for success in the war-torn climate that he sensed was on the horizon, with rumors of secession abound in the Republic's Outer Rim star systems. To build a name for himself in the galactic community, he decided to kill a Jedi and thus took on a job from Akris Ur'etu, the crime boss of the Skar'kla Consortium, a criminal organization based[10] on the galactic capital of Coruscant.[11]" Here is the link also- http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Cad_Bane
There is nothing regarding Bane's origin that is now canon. It could go either way. We have no way to settle the debate that we had, which was that Cad Bane wasn't a bounty hunter when Jango was recruited. This in the end just makes me continue to question why Disney didn't just retcon everything after ROTJ. And them saying they want a clean slate doesn't make much sense since they have barely seemed to care about the Clone Wars Era.
The clone wars era is still part of the PT era. And as far a Lucasfilms and Disney are concerned, the PT era and TCW are untouchable. So they do very much care for the PT/TCW era. It is just now they are focusing on the ST and OT eras with the films and Rebels. I am sure they will return to the clone war and PT era in the future and add more material to it.
I agree. He was saying that because of the moment. He was going on throughout those sessions with the bounty hunters about how they would go down "in history" and so on. It's part of the hyperbole he was employing for that particular situation. However, Cad Bane may well have been the best bounty hunter during the time of the Clone Wars (i.e. after Jango's death).
I think they would be very evenly matched, but I 'll have to go with Jango Fett. Besides his fight with Mace, I find he can handle himself better with jedi and can even kill them. Plus, I like how fett has a honorable side to him.
I would have to say Jango but just by a tiny margin also Bane has lived longer doing bounty hunting then JF.
I feel Jango wins, Cad Bane is only referred to as the best bounty hunter in TCW because a) Jango is dead already and b) Hasbro needs to sell toys, thus, make a character stronger than he actually is. Jango is a mandalorian, born warriors. Also, in a technical argument, he's got some good armour that would save him from some of the blaster fire Cad would throw at him. I also feel like he's probably been trained more, and invested more into his career.
Who exactly did Cad Bane kill? The only jedi I know of his the one from the season 2 intro who kept the crystal but even then that was with an army of droids. Jango at least is shown killing a Jedi at Geonosis. I'm going with Jango is better he's had more experience.
