It just suddenly hit me, the parallels between Cade and Marasiah in Legacy and, Han and Leia in Ep IV-VI.

Han = Smuggler = outlaw and Captain of Millenium Falcon
Cade = Bounty Hunter and Pirate = outlaw and Captain of Mynock
Both Han and Cade have lost their parents/been orphaned or think they are
Supposedly both are pretty hotshot pilots...

Leia and Marasiah are both Princesses on the run from the Sith.

Both live in an era now dominated by the Sith and a Galatic Civil War.

    What do you guys think?

    We can only hope.

It's the only interesting romantic pairing I've seen in a while.

Let's hope they leave out the silly 'cousin' speculation.

It really wouldn't matter if they were distant (which they would be) cousins. And besides, she's royalty, being related to your partner is practically a requirement.

There's similarities, sure, but I would hope they would forgo the obvious and not have them become involved.

Cade should be aware if they're cousins, anyway; if Marasiah actually is a descendant of Jaina it would be fairly common knowledge.

Not neccessarily if there was a falling out in the missing years. If Jaina is in fact a Fel-bearer, she could be estranged from the Jedi and the Skywalkers to the point that it isn't discussed. Perhaps the Solo lineage and the Skywalker lineage are FAR FAR apart now.

As I recall when Legacy began the thought most had was that the Jedi were the Skywalker (Luke, Ben) legacy, the Empire was Jaina's Legacy and the Sith were Jacen's...I still like this idea.

Besides after Luke & Leia, cousins is NOTHING.

Cade, at least, should still know his family's history (as should Marasiah), even if it's not discussed publicly.

As you say, though, fourth or fifth cousins wouldn't be a big deal anyway. First cousins can reproduce with zero risk of genetic abnormalities.

I worked with someone who's parents were first cousins..
She came out fine, but, it might have been part of the reason she held a miscarriage.

My grandparents neighbor also had a daughter, WITH his first daughter, and as last we knew it was growing up normally... /shrug

Genetic abnormalities from inbreeding only show up if it has been happening over a period of several generations or more. It takes several generations(at least) of it to occur before the recessive genes rear their ugly head and start causing probelms. That wouldn't pop up from breeding between folks that aren't closely related.

Knowing genetics has finally come in handy.:)

Eh...I would prefer he end up with Blue. Why should the princess always get the guy?

    1) Provided there has been no interbreeding since the days of LOTF, Sia and Cade are so distantly related that it's no issue at all. Perfectly fine.

    2) On one hand, Cade getting the princess would be a little cliche, and I do like Antares/Sia.

    3) On the other hand, Luke didn't get the princess; his buddy did. If that pattern repeats, it might be a little annoying. If we have the same big-3 dynamic between C/A/S as between L/H/L, the parallels might be too much.

Cade: Why can't we be together?
Marasiah: Cade... I am... your fourth cousin!
    Cade: Your point being?

Not that I seriously believe in that theory.

You may be surprised that your story has been playing out very oddly in people's minds for some time.

    Nah...let's get Marasiah/Cade/Deliah Blue big 3.

Better yet, a Marasiah/Deliah pairing...watch the warning labels explode all over each issue!

I still want Cade to just move through every hot female in the series. Deliah, Sia, Talon... all of them. He should be the James Bond of Star Wars, or at least "Cad Macklayer" as I said before.

I must admit, I give Jon credit for writing Cade's reaction to Deliah's offer to be

    "Yeah, whatever."

    boredom.

If he finds the fabled Lando holocron, maybe he can become the great "Cade MacLayer".

He'll need it because the Skywalker men, don't seem to be too smooth with the ladies. I'll have to keep an eye on Ben, though. He likes to imitate Lando, so maybe there is hope for him.

Yeah. Hey, remember that guy who made a big stink about not reading Legacy anymore because he felt that somehow Cade was irredeemable and evil? [face_peace]

"But Master . . . how will I know what pickup line to use?"

I'm pushing that to the back of my mind, its still as bad as Anakin killing Tusken babies though and I was enjoying his adventures in Republic.

BTW, this issue was very good.

I loved Marish's look of wide eyed shock at what Cade did to Talon.
