Hey there guys, I tried to get people to give me feedback in the Official ROTS Anakin Costume Board, but I guess other people were to busy dealing with better costumes I suppose. =(. Anywho, I made this costume under 2 days, please give me some tips on how to make it better. I don't really want to spend to much money perfecting it (boots, and material are probably going to be the most expenisive anyway). Well here it ihttp://photobucket.com/albums/d149/_Anakin_/?action=view&current=Brian1.jpg

Im sorry if it is offendingly bad costume, please give me a break on it =P

No matter how awesome you make your costume, that Hasbro saber is going to ruin it.

Well honestly, anything we will suggest will be improvments in every part. rather than point out whats wrong I would just suggest reading the first post on the thread and you will see the correct way things should be and you can compare and go from there :)

But before anyone really says how bad this costume really is, I just want you guys to know that this is my VERY FIRST Star Wars costume made from scratch, and I really want to get this Anakin thing Down. The Belt is a brown American Eagle Belt (couldn't afford or find anything else), the Glove is the official Star Wars Anakin Skywalker Adult Glove (I don't know how I can make it, so I just went ahead and bought it), I think the Boots and the Pants by far are the worst of this costume, the pants I got at Goodwill (Cheap 25 cents =P) the Boots I found somewhere around the house, and are a little small, the Tabard ais made from Vinyl which in my humble opinon look reasonably good, the inside shirts are a homemade tunic and a brown American Eagle shirt(I think the inside tunic is a little to light of a brown to be Anakin's I think), and then the outside robe is a really thin material but drapes pretty decently but can rip easy as well. Im just trying to get a really accurate ROTS costume and if it takes me two and a half years so be it, Im just 17 years old and only looking more like Anakin day by day, so the more time I work on it the better! =). Again, Im very sorry for wasting anyones time for trying to help this really bad starting costume! Just please try and help. =)

    Thanks Alot!

Honestly just compare your costume to the actual one and make improvments as you go. Many will feel they will offend you or won't know where you want to go.

REead through teh thread, look at the truckload of reference material and make improvments to the parts you know will need.

You have already started to point out the differnces now...so just take that and move along, make adjustments find better materials and keep on comparing and comparing.

first i wanna say great job! do you have a perfect replica? well no-but you are off on a great start-i just finished my costume with a lot of help from my wife--as long as you got someone who can help you, you can make a better one the next time around--

as for improvement suggestions--well i think that you should try and get some high boots -ie cav boots, tank boots, east german boots or riding boots-that would be a start-the belt you can make with no prob --you might spend about 25-45 bucks but you can handle it(just check out the tutorials)i think if you get that it would improve the "anakin" look

hope this helps man--keep on costuming!

oops! sorry kit-i was not implying that only women know about costuming--sorry if i came across like that--it's just my wife just happens to be pretty good with sewing so she helped me out--i am sure that many guys around here can stand on their own--but since you were asking for help, i was referring to my experience--also you can get any needed info from the boards-

yeah, once you get the tunics pretty good, the little things are what separates good costumes from great costumes. I think when you overwhelm viewers with details they tend to become really impressed with the costume as a whole.

the things about Anakin's costume that will really throw it over the top; the really unique stuff about his outift, are:

    the glove
    the boots
    the leather tabbards
    the belt

if you can get good replicas of those things it will really start to bring the costume together.

Thanks for the info, next I'll probably start re-making my tabards into real leather. Then after that I really need new boots and pants. Also, does anyone have a link to get really nice boots for a decent price, also I heard Dickies Brown Work Pants work nice with the Anakin Costume any tips there as well?

For the boots...you can always get away with making your own "half chaps" out of vinyl like I did. Yes...it is nowhere near "replica" and looks goofy from the back (but with your robe on...does anyone notice?) Here are some shots of my "boot"...my actual boot is only ankle high..if you look close you can see where the two meet.

As you can see...it looks pretty sharp with the costume.

I think your costume looks great!

Thanks Jo! I love your idea, I just might have to try that, plus your costume is definetly one of the best. Like you were saying it doesn't matter what the back looks like because the robe has got it covered ;).

I think it looks pretty good XKitFistoX, especially for a first costume, and on a budget! I have just one question, your obi seems to have an opening and doesn't go solidly across the front underneath the belt. Could you slide it around so that it's across your middle like a belt rather than opening at the centre?

I'm sure you'll be a hit wherever you wear it on Hallowe'en night!
