The Eclipse-class Super Star Destroyer was a 17,500 meter long leviathan of the Emperor's devising. It mounted, amongst other things, an axial keel cannon super laser; 550 heavy laser cannons; 500 turbo laser batteries; 75 Ion cannons; 100 tractor beam emplacements and 10 gravity well projectors. It had a crew of almost 3 quarters of million and 150,000 troops.

I doubt anyone has the resources or time to produce another Eclipse.

It took KDY over five years to produce the first one.

That delay could in part be contributed to the loss of the Emperor and the DS2, and was reflected in the design of the first Eclipse in its asymmetrical structural components (around the bridge especially) and an extension in overall length of 1,500 meters from the probable production specs. Eclipse II seems to have been built much faster than the first and appears to have been the production model of the class. If additional ships had been created they likely would have been identical to Eclipse II.

The Eclipse II was 16,000 meters? Curious--yet it still has the same armaments?

There hasn't been any specific stats on Eclipse II regarding its weapon compliment, so until it is specifically addressed it would probably be the same as the Eclipse.

Regarding its length, the 16km figure is derived from the Dark Empire line that described the first Eclipse as 10 miles from stem to stern. And in an interview with one of the Dark Empire sourcebook creators, it was said they knew about that 10 mile phrase in the comic itself but decided to show the Eclipse had undergone sporadic development and also to make the ship unique as the Emperor's vessel, so they stretched the first Eclipse out to 17.5km in the sourcebook RPG stats. Also apparently the Star Wars Encyclopedia stated the length of the Eclipse as 16km, from the reference to the 10 mile phrase in the comic.

So from that line of reasoning it has been generally considered by a number of fan sources that the intended production specs of the Eclipse-class was actually close to the stated 10 miles, thus 16km. Since Eclipse II appeared to be symmetrical and cleaner in design than the prototype, it was likely constructed to the intended production stats for the class and thus would probably be 16km, while the prototype as stated in the Dark Empire Sourcebook is 17.5km.

    Sovereign Class Star Destroyer *

    Model: Sovereign Class Star Destroyer
    Manufacturer: Kuat Drive Yards
    Designation: Super Heavy Command Ship
    Length: 15,000 meters
    Crew: 605,745
    Troops: 130,100
    Cargo Capacity: 400,000 metric tons
    Consumables: 5 years
    Hyperdrive Multiplier: x3
    Hyperdrive Backup: x8
    Speed: 4,5 MGLT
    Hull: 50,283 RU
    Shields: 96,000 SBD

Special Features: Five Gravity Well Projectors and one Planet annihilating "superlaser" with a firing range of 31,375,000 km.

Weapons: 500 Turbolaser Batteries, 500 Heavy Laser Cannons, 75 Ion Cannons, 100 Tractor Beam Projectors, 5 Gravity Well Projectors and 1 Superlaser.

Onboard Craft: 300 TIE Series Fighters, 60 I-7 Howlrunner Fighters, 60 Alpha Class XG-1 Star Wing Fighters, 48 A-9 Vigilance Interceptor, 12 Gamma Class XM-1 Missile Boat Fighters and 200 Light Transports.

The Sovereign Class Command Ship is basically a scaled-down version of the larger Eclipse Class ship. It has fewer weapons, a slower hyperdrive, and carries a smaller complement of starfighters. Like the larger Eclipse Class, the Sovereign Class mounts an axial superlaser weapon, which has insufficient power to achieve complete disruption of a terrestrial planet, but it is quite capable of rendering a world uninhabitable. To stop fleeing enemy ships or set up traps for vessels traveling through hyperspace it is equipped with five Gravity Well Projectors. Two full legions of stormtroopers, and 5 full garrison bases stowed on board are used to meet any planetary assault needs.

The Eclipse Class Command Ship is currently the greatest command ship class in the Imperial fleet. It is nearly as long as the Executor Class ships, and much more massive. The ships carry almost a million personnel, almost 700 starfighters, and a staggering amount of weapons. They also have 10 Gravity Well Projectors for keeping ships from entering hyperspace, and an axial Superlaser capable of damaging the crust of a planet. These ships are made from all-black hull components, making it nearly invisible to the naked eye.

There were originally two Eclipse class SSD's; the Eclipse Prototype and the Eclipse II. The Eclipse Prototype began construction shortly after the completion of the first Executor Class vessels, and was designed to be the Emperor's personal flagship. However, as resources were diverted to more traditional ships (and projects such as the Imperial II Death Star), the construction of the Eclipse Prototype lagged behind and was eventually put on hold. Nonetheless, the ship was completed almost a decade after it was started, when the resurrected Emperor Palpatine regained control of the remaining Imperial fleet and its resources. Unfortunately, it was soon destroyed by a destructive natural phenomena in the Cyax system, above the fifth moon of Da Soocha. Not long after this event, a similar ship, the Eclipse II, was produced, with the same purpose as its predecessor; however, the ship was also destroyed shortly after it had been launched. :)
