I have the Core Book and the DE sourcebook, but neither of those contain rulings on how Force Lightning works within the d6 rule set.

And I have a couple of quick questions:

1.The Core book says that Force using characters increase their Force Skill codes by 1D for each DSP he has. So does this mean Emperor Palpatine's Sense skill would go from 17D to 67D since he has 50 DSP?

I know I'm reading that right, but I just wanted to make sure there wasn't some caveat I was overlooking.

Definately makes the Dark Side quicker and easier. While WOTC tends to make it rather weak by comparison... [face_plain]

    2. Is there any comparable skill to the 'Force Strike'(AKA Force Push) from d20 in d6? Something that does kinetic damage and knocks the target back? All I see in d6 is general Telekinesis, like the Move Object from d20.

    I'm almost CERTAIN you're wrong, unless it's 3rd edition d6.

There is a power in the Tales of the Jedi Sourcebook which covers this.

Dark Side Modifications: When a character with DSP's uses a Force Skill, his skill code is increased by 1D per DSP.

Example: Jimbo's control skill is 4D and he has two DSP. When he uses his control skill, he rolls 6D. - SWRPG, pg. 70

Like I said, I'm pretty sure I'm reading it correctly, but maybe there is some caveat I'm overlooking?

EDIT: And I don't think its 3rd edition - the copyright is 1987. And on the back it has a logo that shows "Starwars, 1977 - 1987, the first 10 years"

    Is that 3rd edition d6?

Well, I'm not really sure how to tell. I don't see anything about what edition it is. Its called the SWRPG, by West End Games, Copyright 1987.

I always imagined it was the 1st edition, actually, as I got it for like $5 from Amazon.

But whats the difference between 3rd edition and 1st and 2nd?

that only applies until your consumed by the dark side.

each time you gain a dark side point your sposed to roll a d6 and if you roll less than your dark side point total, your consumed and you relinquish control of your character to the GM (unless u wanna play evil). So while someone tainted would gain a bonus of up to 6D if very lucky, it doesn't get any bigger than that. It's the dark sides way of tempting you to continue giving in to your anger.

what's on the front cover? i'll be able to tell u what edition it is that way.

also, for that force strike thing, the power is called 'projected fighting' requires control, sense and alter rolls, and you can choose to do either stun or lethal damage, lethal gets you a DSP, stun doesnt (which is why force strike sucks, giving an auto dsp when used against creatures)

projected fighting, control/sense/alter... DC check difficult/difficult/moderate, and after a succesful roll u need to make an easy brawling roll too.

You can choose what part of the body to hit, but take -1d to brawling when you do it, also if they're force sensitive, they can use brawling parry to avoid the attack.

as for the damage, its strength against strength. You also can't choose what kind of damage you do like i first thought. BUT as you can add or subtract your control die from your lightsaber damage, I'd try and work up something there so that you can do a similar thing with that power

The cover art has Luke, Leia, and Han firing Blasters with swarms of X-wings flying down from the Death Star in the top left portion. The Droids are in the bottom right near Obi-Wan, and Darth Vader shrouds everyone holding an earlier design of the Lightsaber hilt(kinda small looking) that has more of a orange tint than an actual Red color.

Thanks for the 'Projected Fightning' stats by the way. :)

thats the first edition sourcebook im pretty sure, the second edition is kinda dark blue/purple with a pic of vaders head in the middle. and sorry i just realised you wanted force lightning stats, that'll teach me to read the title of the thread :p

    Force Lightning
    Control/Alter Difficulty

control: 17/Proximity; Limited to lign of sight

Alter: Perception or control roll of target

because its a corruption of the Force, Force Lightning ignores armour and can only be repelled with absorb/dissipate energy, it does 1D damage for every 2D in Alter (rounded down)

Was that power the 'Projected Fighting' that Matt mentioned or something more akin to Force push?

Ah the quick and dirty way to handle force-lightning is to simply roll your 'Alter' rating each round for an attack.

Just be prepared to get a ton of dark side points.

blithe, those sites i gave you should have it listed, as all the stuff from the tales of the jedi sourcebook is on at least one of those.

as for the power more akin to force push, its either projected fighting or telekinesis (move object/force push/force strike etc). There wasn't a 'third edition' as such in the d6 format, instead it was called 'second edition revised and expanded' afaik.

Force grip, and what anakin solo used to kill that snake by stopping its heart is covered under 'telekinetic kill'. There is also bolt of hatred, which'd be the dark forces 2: jedi knight equivalent of 'force destruction', and there is also inflict pain, but all these give an instant dark side point.

Thing is Telekinesis can be resisted by perception/control rolls, i imagine you could use it to make a 'wall' of the force, like jacen used to protect himself from the vacuum on ebaq 9, or as anakin skywalker used it in his battle with dooku.

Yeah, I didn't actually see a 'Force push' on any of the sites you gave....? Maybe I missed it somehow? :( But Telekinesis should work just fine either way I guess.

But the 'Bolt of Hatred' is remarkably like 'Force Destruction' from Jedi Knight. ;)

didn't i say that? :p and yeah sorry, there isn't a skill 'force push' in any of the rpg's, i was referring to the terminology found in games like MotS and jedi outcast. man... my rule would be that unless you pushed them off a cliff, into some fire, or something like that, then you shouldn't get a dsp, i mean if all you do is knock them over on to their bum, whats up with that? i might get shot while i laughed at them though lol

    I was just agreeing/clarifying. :p

But yeah, the whole Dark Side point for 'Force Psuh' on living beings is a bit strict. Personally, in the d20 RPG, our group only give a maximum of 1 or 2 DSPs for using it on a living being. Hence we tend to award DSPs in a "exponential levels of evil" way. Using Telekinesis for attacking ('Force Throw') or 'Force Push' on living beings will only earn you about 2 or 3 DSP's total. So it requires more and more heinous acts to become tainted and then Dark.

TK Injure/Kill--if you are using the Force to directly injure or kill someone, it's a DSP.

Now, using lightsaber combat is different: a lightsaber doesn't necessarily kill. That is up to the wielder. If someone used a lightsaber to kill unnecessarily, that, too, would be DSP.

There's a fine line to walk. That's why playing a jedi is HARD. You get phenominal powers and abilities, but you have to use them responsiblly.
