Yes. I think there are cases of that happening, and the first Jedi had no choice but to teach themselves.

you can, but you can't be a true Jedi without apprenticeship.

But wouldn't it make you stronger in the force?
Just think.you'd have to try harder and focus and find your way in the force but if you have a master then he tells you how exactly what to do.

Yes, with the appropriate writings and texts plus through your own learning.

    hehe.

I don't think you even need the teachings to learn how to use the force. Obviously, initially there were those that operated without the teachings.

Secondly, if I recall correctly Streen spoke of using the force to touch and alter the minds of hawkbats or something like that on the tibanna stations on Bespin. Gantoris supposedly similarly learnt without teachings. So I'd say definately yes, seeing as without the teachings you can learn to use it, I can't see how it would hurt to have them

Kyle Katarn is essentially self taught, and he is most certainly a true Jedi. However, he did go to Yavin to finish his training with proper instruction.

Actually there had to be someone who first taught themselfs how to use the forces. Or there would be no Jedi. It is believed that the Ossians of Ossus where the first peoples that used the force, around +10000 years ago. They can't be sure though, since Exar Kun's minions destroyed the planet when they used Sith magic to make those stars go supernova.

It is possible to become very strong in the force through self training, you just won't be called Jedi. But Jedi is more like a organization and teaching style, than a standard for measuring force strength.

No, it just doesn't work. After a while, I get mad and start blowing air on the object I'm trying to move to make me feel better, and don't you dare try to tell me I'm not force sensitive!!!

Think of it this way: You can teach yourself to haphazardly play the guitar, and you might actually become moderately good at it. But unless if you have proper instruction, learn the theory, and truly become one with your instrument, you'll be far far far from anywhere near being great at it.

I do believe that most of us would agree that we're not Skywalkers. So high levels of force mastery without an instructer is pretty much out of the question.
