One of the methods I have been using in my 2nd Fan Film is to Storyboard as much as I can of course (with bad drawing)
But I don't do very well when it comes to fast moving, action, and fight shots. So I Storyboard all the dialog I can then we go and film/brainstorm on location to get the most out of the shot, that will happen later.

    Anyone Else do this?

Now, this is the first time we actually SEE who the force is :)

I liked most of the sword fighting near the end. If you changed the camera angles a bit, to make it more interesting - that would be nice. The beginning of the fight scene was way to slow, IMO. No real ambition to kill the other guy, really.

The Beginning of the fight in it's final form would have the dialog and more emotion with whats going on, really more story, and a moving camera. We didn't have a camera person. But the remote worked really well. :)

I think a good majoirty of film makers created 'blocking tapes' to nut out camera angles for action intensive scenes.

Most behind the scenes stuff I tend to see of course uses storyboards and pre-viz. And I see stuff about doing stunts early, but not whole sequences and use it to create the action really? I start with a clean slate and go in and film then cut it into something I can build on for the real shoot. Any fan Films used this?

We used them to an extent for Knighthood.
Although it was more just a matter of me grabbing the BTS footage from our choreography sessions and cutting them together to see if there were any angles we really liked.

Cool stuff. If they're supposed to be moving storyboards, I feel it's my duty to tell you that there are a fair amount of instances of breaking the line.

    Breaking what line?

40 percent of my movie is storyboarded, by the way. I have storyboarded uhm let's see... at least more than 200 shots, so far. But it can be more, I don't know. Storyboarding really made my math- lessons worth visiting ;)

Look up the 180 degree rule. Your actors keep switching sides.

Yuen Wo Ping did several blocking tapes for the matrix films. The blocking tapes can be found on the DVD's.

Of Course I have seen them practicing and seeing how it looks on film, but many of the seq. have been pieced together.

But I'm going in with just a few ideas - and filming to see what happens to get to the end product, or should I say drawing with film. I'm sure the end product will be different but I have built a road map from nothing other than a few paragraphs.

It's interesting the many ways of planning, it seems very different and backwards but it has been very helpful. Many times lately I have been able to revisit a shot before I have really shot it with my actors or add or take away to it.

And for the record I know I broke the "180 rule"/guide. Thats why we were there to see what angles worked better and what to do to help lighting :D
I tend to brake that everyone in a while in fighting as long as the fighters are easy to tell apart

So long as you're aware each time you break it.

to make it faster, change camera angle more often, almost after every secound, between closeups and half body and full body + some unusual camera angles, rarely far angles. and more saber clashing, close to each other.

I liked the music, good music for fight i think.

awesome small assitant there i saw, almost like force.
