ST Captain Phasma/Gwendoline Christie Discussion Thread

If you actually want a story that uses the character well, the Marvel mini by Thompson and Chechetto is well worth a look.

Great actress whose potential was absolutely wasted in these films.

 

Another “badass”who fell down a pit

 

Sadly, like the Knights of Ren and the Praetorian Guards, Phasma too was really great looking character that held so much potential, but delivered very little in the end. Her look, like the others, was unique and really cool. Unfortunately, it could be strongly argued that her look was merely to sell toys rather than to add anything else of real value.

Like the others, I wish Phasma had played a larger, more meaningful role that underlined her ability as this elite hunter and warrior.

 

I wish, at the very least, they had used that deleted scene in the movie where we see Phasma gun down her own Troopers to protect her secret, and her death was more emphatic when Finn blasts her way up into the sky.

Otherwise, big waste, so much more could have been done with a fine actress who seemed so thrilled to be involved in Star Wars and made a lot of effort to inject a certain clear feminine touch to Phasma's movements and stance contrary to her portrayal of Brienne in GOT.

 

Wasted in the movies.

Character used to its full potential in other media.

 

The chrome trooper was a pretty sweet idea. But underutilized.

 

What a waste of Gwendoline Christie's talents.

 

There's so much going on in TROS that I can't see they can toss in "And also Phasma's Back!" into it. However, I love her final fight with Finn cuz she is such a dang jerk and their "MORTAL KOMBAT!!" face off shot is amazing. It would have taken away something of Finn's win if she had survived so glad she went out when she did.

 

YESSS I FOUND THE GOATED THREAD!!! An entire thread dedicated to Captain Phasma is just what I needed.

 

It just occurred to me that a nonhuman sidekick would've made Phasma a little more interesting.

 

She was incredible in GOT, and one of my favorite characters in that series.
