I'm a newbie to all this, so go easy on me. :)

I've borrowed my church's Sony DCR-TRV340 NTSC [Digital 8] camcorder, and can't get it to capture in widescreen.

I've shot the footage in 16X9, but every attempt I've made to capture is 'squashed'. I've looked thru every camera setting, and every setting in my VideoWave program, but obviously I'm missing something. I've tried capturing through S-video, and it was squashed. Capturing by firewire doesn't work: I get the file, and when I try to drag it into the timeline of Premiere, it says it has no audio or video in the file.

Oh, and noone knows where the manual is....sheeze....

This footage so far is a trial run......we're filming Sunday night.....

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Rats, Leave your footage the way it is. On the export change the frame size to match 16:9. Make Sense?

So the data is there, just 'squashed', and will revert back to normal on the export??

If yes: You have to edit with everything distorted? How do you rotoscope in the distorted format??

    Thanks for your input.
