What's probably the best way to achieve the Casino Royale effect which they've got in the beginning of the film? The almost black and white effect.
I use After Effects by the way.

    Thanks in advance! :)

    Reduce the hue/saturation.

May also want to check out the curves.. it seems like some difference in contrast as well.

The scene in the office compared to the bathroom scene were quite different. For the scene in the office I would just bump down the hue/saturation and maybe fiddle with the contrast or levels a bit. As for the bathroom scene I would mess with the contrast a lot (of course desaturate) and add a bit more grain.

Seems like just black and white to me. That's easy enough.
I don't get the "almost black and white" statement.

There did seem to be a difference between the look of the office and the bathroom. For the flash backy parts in the bathroom, it looked like they had definetly added a healthy amount of grain to the image. The stuff in the office looked like plain black and white to me.

When I saw the title of this thread i was hoping it was going to be about the animation sequence in the intro, which I thought was pretty sweet.

Try some black and white, a splash of amazing set lighting and a hint of film and there you go!

The stuff in the office was very contrasty, but the lighting was very pretty. It ALMOST felt like it had a bit of blue in it, but I dunno. The bathroom stuff: a little more blown-out, more grain, etc.

You're not going to get the same look as the office by simply shooting B&W or desaturating in post.

I'll keep this in mind. It all depends on how the short film is going to be. But I really do like the office look. Saturation and contrast. Thanks lots! :)

You need to use very hard lighting with strong shadows and only few fill-light in your shots.
In Post desaturate the image and crush the blacks to get a lot of contrast. I also noticed a light green/blue tint in the image so it wasn't full B/W (the office shots). Maybe it was just a projection error in cinema but it looked to me like it was intentionally. You can fake this very easily with the levels/curves filter in AE.

im tempted to try my hand at the music video, how would you go about creating the many styles and by that i mean the classic "bond shoots the camera and blood spills" as well as the animated people they had fighting and the psycadellic animation in the background they usually have in these types of video

i suppose the method for animating the people on the casino royale music video is similar to the ipod comercials
