In Galactic Battlegrounds there is a Moff Yittreas (I'll double check the name) who governed over either Reytha or Kashyyyk. OR maybe it was elsewhere... I'll check.

Was Fliry Vorru not also a Moff, at some point? Before being sent to Kessel.

Yes, he was. Moff of Corellia, he was. Turned a blind eye to smuggling operations, he did. Turned Corellia into a smugglers haven, that did. Sent to Kessel then, was he.

Tarkin was Grand Moff of the entire Outer Rim, not just the Seswenna Sector. He was also the first to claim the title Grand Moff, and aspired to become the only Supreme Moff (a title which was in existance but never actually granted to a moff) and would probably have been given this rank had he destroyed the rebel base.

The correct title for Tarkin's holdings would be Oversector Outer.

    "To: Hissa, Bertroff, Grand Moff,
    Kessel System"-gamer #1.

I assume that Bertroff Hissa, is the Grand Moff of the oversector that includes Kessel, hmm?

Hissa, is actually mostly human, he had only "a bit of alien blood" in his heritage, according to guide to star wars universe.

Are there even enough oversectors in the galaxy for that many Grand Moffs?

One must then presume that the position of Grand Moff is temporary and only for the duration of the crisis that required creation of an Oversector.

Grand Moffs are a permanent position, but if one dies, someone else replaces the position.

For instance, when Grand Moff Tarkin died, he was replaced with Ardus Kaine.

Some Grand Moffs controlled vast amounts of land more than other Grand Moffs. For instance some Grand Moffs would only control a single, very large or important, planet. While others such as Tarkin, controlled the whole Outer Rim Territories.

"For instance some Grand Moffs would only control a single, very large or important, planet."

What sources say that a grand moff's region of territories could be but one single planet? Why would he have moffs who reported to him on one small planet?

This is under the entry for Leonia Tavira in A Guide to the SW Universe:

A human, she was sixteen when she began an affair with the Imperial governor of Eiattu VI.

The man she had an affair with was Grand Moff Tharil Tavira, governor of Eiattu VI, a planet.

Well many moffs held more than one position, IIRC. He could have been a governer of one planet, while his region ecompassed a few sectors. Anywho, it is the plain "moffs" that each control one sector, and they report to the grand moff of their region(who may live on one of the worlds of the region).

Ok, I just found out that an oversector is a priority region(I.E. a contested zone with rebellion activity) so not every grand moff has an oversector region. But every Grand Moff has a region of space. Regions are a group of sectors, each sector is generally at least 50 inhabited planets but it varies per sector. Each sector is controlled by one moff. A region's size and amount of sectors varies from region to region.

The outer rim terrorities is a big region since it doesn't have nearly as many inhabited worlds, so sectors cover larger areas.

Grand Moff Tarkin didn't exactly control the Outer Rim, per se. If anything he controlled it was Sesswenna Sector, and he probably forfeited it when he took control of the Death Star.

Tarkin was more like an overseer. He patrolled the Outer Rim, making sure things were in order and (of course) stamping out Rebel activity.

And I can tell you this much about the other moffs:

Moff Disra: Attempted to resurrect the Empire with an ersatz Grand Admiral Thrawn. He's probably in jail as of the NJO.

Moff Ephin Sarretti: Succeeded Moff Disra as Moff of Bastion.

Grand Moff Kintaro: Ruler of Bajic Sector, a haven for outlaws. Was bribed into ignoring criminal activities. Presumed dead as of SotE, at the hands of an Emperor Palpatine.

Moff Sarn Shild: Ruler of Hutt Space (?) or that vicinity. Was supposed to wipe out Nar Shaadaa to stifle smuggler activity and occupy Nal Hutta. Was riddled with corruption - he allowed Rebel spy Bria Tharen to get close and was bribed by the Hutts. Was eventually killed (presumably by Darth Vader).

The moffs of the sectors within the outer rim region reported to Tarkin, and later Ardus Kaine.

Tarkin's base of operations was the seswanna sector, but he was the Grand Moff of the outer rim region. The moffs that reported to him, did all the work of controlling the other sectors for him, and gave him reports.

This is how it works according to Imperial Sourcebook.

To quote the book, as matt trias has been so kind to get the quote for me:

    "Sectors and Regions

A sector is an economic and political division which originated in the early days of the Old Republic. Originally a cluster of star systems with approximately 50 inhabited planets, the definition of a sector became vague and the average sector grew in size during the latter days of the Republic. Now unimaginably large sectors contain vast numbers of inhabited worlds with no regard to limiting factors. Sectors are governed by Moffs. Sectors are grouped together into larger territorial entities called regions. The Empire has countless regions, which can contain from as few as three to upwards of thousands of sectors.

The establishment of a region depends not only upon galactic geography, but also upon wealth, influence, historic "sentimentalities," economic diversity and the level of direct control exerted by the Empire. Regions are governed by Grand Moffs (the title "regional governor" is commonly used). Some well known regions include the Outer Rim Territories (a vast expanse of space with many frontier colonies), the Galactic Core (historic "birthplace" of the Republic, containing Coruscant, the capital of the Empire, as well as several other vital systems), the Deep Core (a restricted area of space - essentially a giant "preserve" in the heart of the Empire), the Colonies, and the Inner Rim."

Ya, I just looked at my copy of the ISB. I guess then, that the status and ruling territory of most of these moffs/grand moffs was never given.
