I've always found the Cathar race (ex. Juhani from KoToR) to be an interesting idea to make a costume out of. I saw on the wookieepedia that there are two subspecies of Cathar.

I was wondering if anyone has made or has some ideas for a cathar costume I am thinking of doing. Such as fur?

Any help would be appreciated. I was thinking of doing a Cathar costume but, the fur for the body kinda stumps me. Any ideas?

Do you have a link to pictures or a discription? Having never played KOTOR, I haven't a clue what race you're talking about so it would help if there were some pictures. :)

They are sort of a feline looking humanoid species.

    Here's Juhani from KoToR:

I was thinking of going with the more common subspecies of Cathar. Where their body had long fur and thick manes.

From the picture of Juhani...hmmm you might be better off with a bald cap, a hair piece glued to it, then airbrushed body paint for the rest of it. That "fur" is awfully short so would be difficult to reproduce. For the musical Cats, they just airbrushed body paint over any skin that wasn't covered by the body suits.

From the second picture you posted...I'm thinking a suit/mask like the guys do for Chewie costumes. Just trim the hair in at a different length and make the mask cat like.

The third picture...that looks more difficult, since again the hair is much shorter. That one might be a skin tight body suit or body paint and not even bother with the short fur. Then do a set of clawed "gloves" and the mask separate.

Those would be my first guesses...anyone else have anything better?

I think a cathar costume is interesting. Maybe short fur. But the idea of using the suit that they used for a wookiee costume seems to be a good idea also.

I have a question though. Do cathar have tails?

I'm sorry for asking. In the third pic posted thats a female. Your not doing a female are you?

If I go with the wookiee plan, wouldn't I have to punch in the hair?

I don't think cathars have tails. They would probably get in the way of fighting.

I wasn't thinking about doing a female but if I was it shouldn't matter. Especially since my face will be changed along with the costume. Does it matter if it the costume I'm planning would be female or not? I seen other costumers wearing aliens that they made female, because it doesn't, or barely, show their face so you'd never know. But in response, no I dont think I am going to make it female. It would raise to many eyebrows I think.
