Celebration III Set for Indy
January 23, 2004

Event Extended to Four Days: April 21 to 24, 2005
The biggest Star Wars party will be even bigger, will return to Indianapolis, and has been extended to four days. Star Wars Celebration III, the much-anticipated fan gathering, has been confirmed for the Indiana Convention Center, April 21 to April 24, 2005.

I'm gonna go ahead and ask for those days off. That, and saving up some funds.

 

Time to make our hotel reservations. 2005 is going to be awesome.

Now I just got to get a job so I can go ahead and ask for the time off.

I feel like I should be quoting Han Solo in the ROTJ briefing scene just before the Battle of Endor.

I still need to assemble my command crew. Meaning, that we have four seats left in the van. Five, if we absolutely have to.

So, we need to start some planning, people. Those coming on "The Falcon" (my name for our Honda Odyssey), need to speak up soon. And we need to get some hotel rooms and ready ourselves for what should be the end-all, be-all of SW fandom.

So, who's going to be in my flight crew?

 

Well, get ready to pay anywhere from $200 to $250 a night for accommodations. I've been checking around, and the cheapest I've found is the Omni Sevarin, which is at $159 a night. Of course, I'm not even remotely thinking about any hotel that isn't connected to the convention center via skywalk. I don't plan on having to go very far to sleep.

Save your pennies, folks. I'm sure this shindig is going to easily cost a couple of grand. I may have to find me a corner on Lamar Avenue yet.

 

Okay we need to stay at the Marriott DT on Maryland Street. 'm willing to pay the extra money to use the walkway. But you can't book until April 2004.. Sooooo, April 1 - we should start trying. I'm a Rewards member so maybe I can get us a good deal. I doubt it for this occasion. It's not listed on their calendar yet at the convention center site.

I'm definitely up for this. We have a year and a few months to plan this and more importantly...save our cash. Sherri and I are also saving up for a cruise for our 5th anniversary, but it's not until 2006...so we should possibly be able to pull off both big events...I hope.

Steve: I'm going to hit with both CIII and my 10th wedding anniversary within 4 months of each other. I'm going to have to work six jobs to pay for it all.

Hell, I still have to find the first one.

I found a list of hotels around the Indianapolis Convention Center. The list denotes those hotels connected via a skywalk, as well as links to all of their websites. You can find that list here.

We should go for they Marriott if possible. It seems to be closer. Are we going to try to stay in the same hotel or just be on our own?

I can call Marriott Sales department Monday and see about getting a set of rooms how much it would cost, we may can get in together by doing what we call a block if we can get enought to go and they lower their room prices and will let us go on and reserve. I can guarantee without paying until we get there. We have this slim time that its not on the convention calendar.

If we spread out too much, I bet its a lot of walking.

 

To Rhonda we listen.... ugh....cough... Rhonda's right. We'll be walking our butts off if we are too spread out. And the Marriott is pretty much comparable to most of the rates I saw last night.

Yes, please go ahead and check on that. If we can get a better rate, or at least know we'll all be together, then it's all for the best, I think.

Oh, and you know who'll be there at the same time we are, don't you? That's right! Those party animals from the Lutheran Education Association. Watch out for those guys, y'all. They're notorious for their keggers and panty raids.

That's nice, Kell, but Sherri and I were sorta thinking it'd just be the two of us taking the cruise together.

Or were you talking about C3?

 

What, you mean we can't all go with you and Sherri on your anniversary cruise, Steve??

Can we at least all come over on Valentine's Day?

Man, I'm going to have to start watching my pennies and start a new savings account! Might be a good time to start e-baying off a lot of my junk!

Tim I'll take one of those seats if any are still available. Anyone want to share a room? I know I won't be able to afford $200 a night. But hey, I'll sleep in a card board box out side if I have to.

 

Sounds Awsome, can't speak for Sal, but I know I had an amazing time at C2 last time. TIM: I'll pitch in for one of those seats. SMK ALIEN: Count me in for one of those room shares as well.

Must save money, must attend Celebration III...Anybody wanna buy some of my extra SW toys? I'm planning 2 trips next year, Celebration III at the beginning of the year and DisneyWorld end of the year. I'm gonna be broke as a murf.

 

I think that's going to be the new name of the club by 2005, Dale- The BTAMSMT- The Broker-Than-A-Merf-Suspicious-Mind-Trick. The other name I thought of can't be said here without my being banned.

 

Ok, how can we make money with [TimmyCon[/b]?! I've got CIII, DragonCon, OhioState, Metropolis, Nightmarez R&D trip(s), and some others all hitting this year and into the next...oh, and paying for MSC!

Man, I'm actually going to have to get more money before I can even consider myself broke!

Oh well, at least we're splitting a lot of the costs out between folks, and there's no real travel expenses for MSC!
