I've changed the name of this story, because I made a few changes in the set up. I didn't like where it was going and how it started, but it's too late to change that now. Anyway, this is now part 1 of a trilogy. Enjoy

[b] Changer: Spellbound [/b]


There were three things I noticed when I woke up; one, I was lying in a bed that was not my own, two, there was someone lying beside me, and three, he was male and I didn?t know him. That?s four, I guess, but it didn?t matter; I was in big trouble. I think. What happened? It isn?t everyday that I find myself in a strange bed, with a strange person snoring softly beside me. I didn?t dare turn to see who it was for fear that I would wake him. At the least no before I know who he is.


The pounding in my head and the way the light that peeked through the curtains hurt my eyes reminded me of the drinking game I had lost. Right. Bar, dancing, and a cute, golden-eyed, red-haired, dark red-skinned Valezian. Oh dear, I am in big trouble. Not that I?m not allowed to go out - I am. I?m also NOT the jumping in the sack with the cute beautiful eyed Valezian, (don?t think I jump into the sack with every cute guy I meet, I don?t. Really, I don?t. Oh come one he?s cute) but that I?d forgotten the meeting my Uncle had organized. Not just an ordinary meeting, but one of those big meetings where all the Jedi who are alive and walk the galaxy meet, and I was late. Like very late.


I quietly slipped out of bed and hit the fresher. Ten standard minutes later I was ready to slip out of the room, wherever it was located, when a soft mumbling made me turn around and pray to every higher power above that the Valezian wasn?t waking up. Whoever heard me granted my wish because he only mumbled my name a few times ? guess I left an impression ? and went back to sleep. It made me feel guilty that I couldn?t remember his name when he obviously remembered mine. As I hurried to the auditorium where the meeting was being held this very moment, I solemnly swore never to participate in any drinking games ever again.


Of course that didn?t help me as I quietly, hoping no one would notice ? which is ridiculous obviously ? slipped into the auditorium and took a seat next to my twin brother, Jacen. He ignored me the entire meeting, or so he tried - I caught him glancing at me one or two times with a mixed look of relief and anger in his eyes.


Jacen and I are twins, linked even before birth, but we couldn?t be more different. If I am the moon he is the sun. Make him the moon and me the sun, because my brother has been the quiet reserved type of person ever since he quit making jokes all the time. That was after Tenel Ka told him it would never work out between them and that they should remain friends. After that, my brother devoted his life to the Jedi-business. This resolves in trying to save the galaxy from doom as quietly as possible. I respect that. I?m a Jedi too, but don?t I devote my entire life to the Jedi as Jacen does. Sure I go on the missions my Uncle sends me on and sure I can be diplomati

I?d thought to go home and catch up on some sleep in a very dark room, but I never got that far. From across the street two very big and broad-shouldered men in dark robes came walking up to me. It looked as if they were law enforcers. Instantly, I knew I shouldn?t have gone out yesterday.

?Miss Jaina Solo?? the first said. He had a round, freckled face with penetrating dark eyes, settled intently on me. A shiver started down my spine while my stomach twisted itself in impossible ways.

?Yes, that?s me,?

?Please come with us, miss,? the second big guy said. He sounded like he?d done this before. His face was friendlier than that of his partner, yet it told me not to mess with him. His bad.

?And why would I do a think like that? You?re not exactly my type, you know.? I hoped it would break the ice, but it didn?t. I think I could have been standing there stark naked and I still wouldn?t have gotten a different reaction. They kept staring at me impassionedly. Even walls have more response than that. Of course, walls didn?t come to arrest you.

?As of thirty standard minutes ago you are a suspect in the murder of Raelan Moonghost,? Creepy eyes said.

Murder suspect? Me? Raelan? Thoughts raced through my mind. I didn?t know any Raelan, did I? I said as much, but I didn?t get an answer to that. No surprise there. It hit me just as the second man took me by the arm and started to lead me to their speeder. Raelan was the guy from last night!! I jerked free. Let me tell you they didn?t like that.

?Raelan is dead?? I voiced my surprise a little too loud. Bystanders stopped doing what they were doing and looked in my direction. I pretended I didn?t notice and so did my law enforcers. They both grabbed an arm and hauled me off to their speeder.

My surprise must have also surged through the Force, because a second later Jacen and Anakin were bursting through the doors of the auditorium with Uncle Luke and Aunt Mara following. I heard Jacen demanding to know what they thought they were doing?! Duh, taking me with them of course ? what did it look like? I could just imagine Anakin?s hand going to his lightsaber and my Uncle?s refraining hand on his shoulder.

My uncle has always told me to stay calm and that irrational actions don?t help anything; he said it would only make the situation worse. But at the moment I wasn?t Jaina-the-Jedi-Knight, I was Jaina-the-girl-about the-be-arrested-for-murder ? a murder that she didn?t commit, I might add. And well, that doesn?t make you stay calm. So I did what every girl ? well maybe not every girl but most girls ? would do in my situation: I hit Creepy Eyes square on the nose with a wicked right, kicked Friendly Face in a place were it would hurt him the most, and ran.

I had no doubt in my mind that it wasn?t the smartest thing to do, but I couldn?t think of anything else at the moment. I had the sense of mind not the run up the boulevard, but downwards. As I weaved through crowds of every species imaginable, I heard Creepy Eyes and Friendly Face were hot in pursuit. Not that I looked back to see if they did, but they didn?t have the sense to go around the crowds; they just rampaged right through. You could just tell that it wasn?t appreciated.

I ran as fast as I could, not being aided by the Force ? yet. I ducked into as many streets and alleys as I was familiar with in the hopes of leaving my pursuers behind, but they were extremely determined to get me. They must have done this sort of thing before.

It wasn?t until a pair of hands yanked me inside a building that they lost track. I was about the voice my shock and annoyance when a hand clamped over my mouth to keep me silent. Made sense of course. Wouldn?t want Creepy Eyes and Friendly Face to hear me. An extremely familiar voice told me to be quiet.


When my eyes had adjusted to the darkness inside the building, I saw who had me pressed against a wall with a hand over my mouth. Kyp! I almost said so, except that his hand was still p

An excellent read!

I'm very particular about how people characterise Kyp Durron, who is one of the more interesting and multi-faceted characters to have been yielded from the EU: when author's bother to write him as such.

I get the scent that you may be such an author, I look foward to the next installment with interest.

Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry for not updating. I was planning to yesterday, but I went to a Bon Jovi concert, but we had major trouble coming back, I was stranded until a friend of a friend's mother came to pick us up Needless to say to say it was too late and I was too tired to post anything But I promise that when I get back from work I'll post!!

 

Well here it is! Things will become very interesting after this I've planned quite a lot.

I paced the room. Not that I could do much pacing ? the room was so small it couldn?t even be called a room. It was more of a hallway closet. Nevertheless, pacing made me feel like I was doing something. All right, it does for me. At the very least, it took my mind of all that had happened in the last two hours.

Two hours; it felt more like a year to me. It?s funny how two hours can change your entire life. If you?d told me two weeks ago that I?d be in this mess today, I wouldn?t have believed you. But here I am, wanted for murder. I wasn?t even a suspect anymore, or so Master Durron told me. Coruscant law says anyone who runs at an arrest, or attempted arrest, is guilty. Then it?s: guilty until proven innocent.

After I?d cried out every tear I could bring up, Master Durron had taken me to an associate?s apartment, the owner of which happened to be off-planet. He told me to stay in this room and keep myself closed off from the Force, so my brothers wouldn?t follow. I didn?t ask why he?d pointed out only my brothers and not the rest of my family. Then he said he would find out everything he could and come back.

So here I was, pacing a too small room and anxiously waiting for Master Durron to return. A standard hour later, not to forget thousands of turns, he knocked on my door and told me to follow him to the main room. Once there he regarded with a look too serious for Master Durron?s face, and said; ?It doesn?t look good.?

?No, it?s the best day of my life, alright? Off course it doesn?t look good! How bad is it?? I asked, trying very hard not to let worry creep in my voice.

There was a ghost of a smile on his face. ?Raelan Moonghost was found with a slit throat in his bed. Your fingerprints are all over the room and several witnesses saw you enter the room with Raelan and leave alone, in a hurry.? While he said that he gave me a disapproving look, which I tried to ignore and said; ?That doesn?t prove anything! He was alive and mumbling when I left the room. I would remember if I?d slit his throat!?

?You know that, but others don?t, Jaina. They review the facts and make a case from the evidence they gather. The Coruscant Law Enforcement Agency doesn?t go around believing people when they say they didn?t do it.?

The tone of his voice and the suspicious stare made me think there was more than he was telling me. ?Then what evidence leads them to believe I killed Raelan?? I asked, not sure if I wanted to know the answer.

?Your fingerprints were found on the knife used to kill him. The knife was found in the room.?


That pretty much sealed the case for the Coruscant Law Enforcement Agency.


But it didn?t for me. I would find out who?d set me up and make him, or she, regret he ever laid eyes on me.?
