(First off, I have to say I'm surprised there wasn't an existing thread about this character). Vizago's appearance in the latest trailer for season 4 made me wonder what kind of role he'll have and if they are planning kill him off (or if he will survive the series). Whatever they are planning it's nice that they didn't forget about him (I found it odd that they dropped him after the episode 'Brothers Of The Broken Horn' in season 2 considering he has a history with the Ghost crew and felt like he would be more of a recurring character). With the season being condensed from the previous season's 22 episodes to 16 episodes I have to wonder if there really is a place for him in in due to him not being important to the overaching story of the series so it will be interesting to see how they will work him into the plot (or if he's just meant for one or more filler episodes, which I hope not since with a shorter season it would be better with no unnecessary detours).
he's probably profiting off of Lothal's insurgency, like he did off the Ghost. I don't think he'll get offed because he's one of those side characters whose story has the potential for expansion. Imagine, if you will, A Broken Horn Syndicate in the Sequel Era which rivals the likes of the Hutts or the Black Sun. They could totally kill him though. That could happen.
Well Vizago is tied to Lothal, and when they joined The Rebellion, The Spectres didn't need him as a source of income especially since they don't operate exclusively on Lothal anymore.
Vizago really surprised me now in season 4 with his two appearances so far (as we don't know if he'll show up again). It's like they retooled him into a new character and made him a bit more likeable, helpful and jovial, but still with some uncertain undertones which is all right since he's supposed to be a space pirate (and I'm a fan of that he's essentially friends with the Ghost crew now). I don't exactly miss his portrayal as a backstabbing jerk who was ready to kill Ezra after the boy helped him in Brothers Of The Broken Horn (now when I think of it he was portrayed kinda wierdly there; first he wanted to kill Ezra and minutes later when they run into each other he just sends him and Chopper off in an escape pod). I would say that they based his new self on Hondo but they considerably toned down all the overtly theatrical and comedic antics and found a pretty good balance. I guess some will prefer his older, more sinister self but I liked his new nicer and 'redeemed' self better. What do you others think of the new Vizago?
I like him. His character development makes sense; he's lost his livelihood, so is more likely to reach out to others for help and connection. Everyone who isn't an Imperial on Lothal has been brought together emotionally by that sense of shared tragedy. He's not a morally upstanding citizen all the time because that's not really who he is, but he has lost any motivation to be backstabbing towards the Ghost Crew. I always got the impression that the deals and betrayals from him were his idea of how to profit / do good business, not an indication of core evil. When he's run out of his own schemes, he's actually an okay person. He is a bit like a more somber Hondo in this respect; though I think he's showing himself to be more loyal and appreciative of Ezra's kindness than Hondo was.
"Vilmarh Grahrk is the luckiest Devaronian who ever lived." alas... I guess he really wasn't. He was an amazing character
