While watching ROTS on dvd, I noticed somthing about Cin Drallig, the Jedi Anakin fights in the security hologram.

First, Cin's hair is worn in the same style as Qui-Gon's.
Second, Cin's hair and robes are all white. This is the only time in the saga where we see a Jedi with pure white robes.
Third, Cin uses a green lightsaber, like Qui-Gon

With these things in mind, does Anakin killing Cin Drallig have any significance, symbolic or otherwise?

Sorry if this has been discussed before. If so, please redirect me to the right thread.

Not unless you want it to be significant. To me it was just Anakin killing another Jedi.

Cin Drallig was in the ROTS game. Um...that's significant...I think??? Oh, yeah and Anakin can use lightning in that game. O.K. so I guess it's not significant. I think the reason that Cin Drallig was in the film was because Lucas wanted to give Nick Gillard a cameo.

There isn't any signification, it was just to get Nick Gillard in the movie , inconito style.

Cin Drallig is the Jedi Master in charge of teaching most of the saber skills. He taught many many of the existing Jedi and he is also Gate Keeper to the Jedi Temple. Technically speaking his lightsaber is yellow. It always was to be such then they changed it last minute by sticking him in a hologram so it becomes green. Anyways, yes it is significant in that he was a very high ranking and powerful Jedi, but no there isn't any significance in relation to Qui-Gon that I know of

There are no yellow lightsabers in the Saga. Perhaps in the video games, but in the films we have green and blue for the good guys (SLJ gets purple) and red for the bad guys. But yeah, in KOTOR you can have yellow blades.

Yes, there really isn't any significance. For those geeks like us, who know it's Nick, Cin has a little more meaning. And because we know that the character was supposed to be the main swordmaster and teacher in the Order, it says something that Anakin was able to just take him out so easily.... to us anyway.

His lightsaber was always intended to be yellow and wasn't changed until later in the films final development.

I know it's splitting hairs, but where did you read that? That would have been strange if Lucas gave a Jedi a yellow saber, since he's clearly stated that they have either blue or green (Exception: Mace)

The robes look grayish to me. But it a hologram, and you really cant tell colors from a hologram.

Cin Drallig had no signifance other than teaching younglins how to use a lightsaber. I think each Jedi can pretty much wear what they want. Plus there has to be more than one Jedi with the same hairstyle.

In the ROTS game Anakin faces off against Cin's apprentice and then Cin himself.

Serah Keeto and Cin Drallig get their asses kicked. And they were supposed to be two of the greatest swordsman the Jedi Order can offer. Cin Drallig....some weapon master. Keeto, some apprentice of a weapon master.

    Yep.

Besides, who cares of his significance. You know why? BECAUSE HE HAS NONE. "Cin Drallig" didn't even exist until Episode III was in production, and it was just to give Nick Gillard a cameo as a Jedi Master who trains younglings in swordfighting; which is his reflection of real life, since he is the saber choreagropher (sp?).

So he teaches younglings and he's a noob because he's used to sparing with younglings.

Is that what I'm getting here?

Sure does look like a noob in ROTS.

I remember my brother and I playing ROTS video game for ps2. He would be Darth Vader and I would sometimes be Cin Drallic. I always would beat him. But seriously, Cin Drallic wasn't much of a character. He was in that one video clip that ObiWan and Yoda saw. How Anakin can beat Cin Drallic and lose to ObiWan, i'll never know. I think Cin Drallic was put there to show how powerful Anakin really was.

Well I guess it was to show that Anakin has turned on his teachers, as Cin had helped Obi-Wan train Anakin im Lightsaber Combat.

All of the stuff written about him being the Jedi Sword master is true.
Also true that he was played by NG as a thank you from GL, much in the same way that most of the crew, serious crew that is, got little cameo's in the PT. In fact, the girl who Anakin is choking to death in that same scene is Mousey McCallum, Ricks daughter.

He was meant to have a yellow saber, but it never materialised so far as I know.

Other than being a character for the EU to build upon, and breath life into his backstory, he has no other significance to ROTS.

He came. He saw. He got killed by the chosen one during the purge of the Jedi temple.

Oh yeah, and Anakin kills him like a punk in the X-Box game[face_laugh]
