Has anyone heard much about the movie Cinderella Man? Has quite an all-star cast, including Russell Crowe and Renee Zellwegger, with Ron Howard directing. Crowe and Howard helped make A Beautiful Mind into a Best Picture winner, so I imagine they'll do good things with this too.

    The trailer is here.

    Hmmm... looks good. :)

Since I'm horrible at this kind of history, who (if anyone) is this supposed to be the "story" of?

I saw the trailer when I saw Meet The Fockers today, it looks pretty good, then again I've liked all of Ron Howard's films.

Ooooh, looks like the first non-indy film that Paul Giamatti'll be in.

Hopefully it'll pass Million Dollar Baby as the better boxing film. Earlier this year, I was backing the film as best picture until it got pushed back to 05.

I saw this. It was good. Russell Crowe's a good actor, which helps to elevate it a bit. I appreciated it just as much as the last few times I saw it, when it was called Seabiscuit and The Natural and Cool Runnings and Iron Will and Rocky and The Little Engine That Could and Remember the Titans and Miracle and [insert title of almost any sports movie here]. . .

    I preferred The Mighty Ducks.

    Emilio Estevez > Russel Crowe

You might say it did about as well in the box office as Crowe did in anger management class.

Too bad it did so terrible. That's what happens when you throw phones at people though. The entire cast pays for it later down the road. I thought it was pretty good acctually. Dispite not liking Crowe's attitude that much, I do think his work is very good. (at least in compatison to many actors and actresses out there)

None the less, he still is a jerk. I would be nasty and not see it because of him, but after seeing it, I thought it was good.

And if convicted, he may not work in the US again. Is that true?

Shame. I consider him to be one of the two best actors on the planet, Why does he do this to himself?

If he's an idiot and doesn't settle out of court, he could go to prison for up to eight years, IIRC. And since it's caught on tape, and he threatened the concierge over the phone showing intent before the fact, he would not do well in court. He'll just pay the guy off, though, so don't worry. :)

As I said, it's a decent movie. Very inspiring and all that. Just exactly the same as almost every other sports movie ever made. Also very factually innacurate -- they turned Baer, who was apparently a real nice guy and devastated by his mistakes in the ring, into a mean bully villain type, and Braddock, who was very much a man of his time, into a true-blue all-American hero.
