Remember the OT Leia quote "Aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper?"?

Well, even though there were many stormtroopers that weren't clones, Leia's comment would be derived from those that are clones, and therefore the more common height. Well, if the common stormtrooper height was still Fett's by that period of time (which might make sense since they are the famous ones) then the comment would be wrong, since Mark Hamill is actually taller than Temuera Morrison. Just something....

Yeah but actors are not necessarily the same height as their characters--one Hayden Christensen portraying the suited Darth Vader comes to mind.

For an in-universe answer (and a dumb one), perhaps the Jango-clones were given hormones of some kind?

 

The OT Stormtroopers are from a different DNA source than Jango Fett in the PT. Lucas confirmed that in an interview in 04. Thus the DNA template(s) there are taller than Luke. This belongs in OT or Saga. Take your pick as to where you want it.

Not really. If there's something that you think is worth discussing, by all means go ahead. I'm just saying that this isn't really PT specific since it is more about the OT.

 

Leia was reclining at the time. From her angle I'm sure Luke looked shorter than he actually was. Also, Luke was a known sloucher and his hair was really flat at the time which made him look shorter.

Morrison is shorter than Mark Hammil? Maybe it's just because I picture him with Vader, but Luke always seems to be very short.
