Clone Trooper Phase II armor

Would be cool if at some point we see the clones switch to the new version of armor.
No idea if this was mentioned somewhere, but I'm guessing probably the end of season two or beginning of season three. If it happens.
Thoughts?

 

I definetly expect to see the clones migrating to Phase II armor. But I'm quite sure it won't happen in sesason 2. At the soonest it should happen around the end of season 3.

The thing is, changing the clones to Phase 2 armor is not just a cosmetic change that marks the passage of time. It will also change the characters themselves. In the Star Wars universe, the look of things is always very symbolic. And the Phase 2 armor does look more "scary" than the Phase 1 armor. It looks more like a stormtrooper, like a villain. So, once we see our friendly Captain Rex donning that armor, that will mark a shift. It will mark the beginning of a landslide that will culminate in Order 66. I think the creators of the show, and George Lucas specially, know this very well. So they will only introducue the Phase 2 armor when it makes sense story-wise to start adding this extra element to the clones. This element of doubt of what these guys are about to become.

 

There has been some concept art of the 3-d version of the phase II helmet, together with Dave's signature "Plo-kool!" stamp of approval on it.

We know they are considering it -- it's just a matter of when.

 

We'll definitely see it like others have said but it will be a while I think. Were still in the first year of the war and I think they'll keep the Phase I armor around for a while.

At the earliest we'll see it at the end of Season 3 but I expect it around Season 4 for sure.

 

I imagine they could use it with some new characters, having more armour designs makes it easier to tell the clone apart - maybe Cody will take it and Rex won't.

 

Depends how the transition occurs. It could be that when season 4 starts (just an arbitrary example) all the clones will have moved onto the phase II armor. Or it could happen over a stretch of time. In real life equipment tends to get phased out, it's not as though one day everyone just retires their equipment and gets it replaced in a day. So, maybe new clone characters get introduced - say Appo gets transferred to Anakin's unit - he and some of his men might come over with the new phase II armor while Rex might not adopt it until later, and maybe Cody even later still. Kind of like how Anakin and Obi-Wan moved onto the newer Jedi Interceptor while Plo Koon was still flying the kind of Jedi fighter shown in AOTC.

 

Just celebrating the fact that we are indeed going to see Phase II armor in action this season.

So far it seems only a few individual clones are wearing it. Do you think we'll see whole companies using it still in season 3?

 

I do hope we see at least one company completely changed into the new armor.

 

This is so excelarrating. This may be the only season we'll see slight Phase I troops work with Phase II clones. I think in Season 4 there will only be Phase II troopers. I hope in this season Commander Gree, Bly, and Cody have Phase II armor.

 

Filoni said that only ARC troopers will test the phase II armor (which is in fact phase 1.5). This season will still be phase I. (at least the 2/3 they've made so far)

 

Did Dave say that in C5? I'm actually cool with that. It would make sense for them to give the new armor to the elite troops first, and then gradually ditribute them among the commom grunts. It will make it nicely gradual if we only see the Phase 2 (or 1.5) massively the next season.

How was Comic-Con for the Clone Wars, anyways?

 

I think it's a smart idea to start slowly phasing it in and putting it through it's paces as "Phase 1.5" with only elite troops testing it. Usually you don't go cold turkey when phasing something new in anyway. Will be interesting to see clones like Rex, Cody, etc ditching their old armour for the new armour, and their thoughts on it, should be a pretty monumental moment.

 

I thought it was cool to see the Phase II armor in the Season 3 preview. Were those ARC troopers wearing it, and is that actually what is being called Phase 1.5 armor? I guess the guy in the banner at the top of the page right now is wearing that then, since there are little differences between that and the Phase II that we see in ROTS... such as the "fin" on the top of the helmet that looks very similar to the one on the top of the Phase I helmet.

 

I think Phase II armor is supposed to be more comftorable and suitable, and colors don't degninate rank.
