Color of a Lightsaber

I've always been wanting to know this: How do you receive your color of a lightsaber? Green is usually for Jedi Consular's like Yoda, so I think that's why his is Green, but how does a Jedi receive his color as a lightsaber? Do they have to do specific deeds to get a specific color? And do different colors mean different skills? Please respond, anyone. Thank you.

Well apperently Yoda is a Jedi Consular, but some Jedi get to chose there color and all of that stuff. And a color doesn't specifie a skill, it can but it doesn't have to. Mace Windu has a purple lightsaber which means he could be anything.

 

There is no structure or organization to it.
All Jedi create their own lightsabers and they choose what type of crystals they want to put into it. There is no system where experienced Jedi are one color and young ones are another. It is just a random choice.

Having the Lightsaber color apply to one's ability would be idiotic, as one's ability would change during his years as a Knight. So, essentially, the color is chosen at random, but only from the blue, green, and purple assortment.

One Jedi did create a fourth color- the yellow "Penari" Lightsaber, named after its creater. Its powerful crystal allowed it to cut through any other Lightsaber, but it was soon deemed much too dangerous by the Jedi Order, who destroyed both it and the blueprints, and it is now illegal.

a quick question... in the ep. 2 dvd, in the character tv trailers... it states others have a crystal lightsaber , but that Mace has an electrum lightsaber (not sure if thats correct)... and wanted to know if anyone knows what exactly that meant.

Couple thousand sith actually created a fifth color. red.

 

Darth Shredder- You can make as many color Lightsabers as there are crystals (which are a lot), but those are all used only by Dark Jedi(who can use any color), or those not from an Order. The Sith are restricted to red, and red only, but the Jedi are restricted to green, blue, and purple (no longer yellow). So, when I said fourth, I meant for the Jedi.

Another fascinating Jedi was the renowned Jedi scientist Crutus Penari. Penari succeeded in creating a yellow-bladed light saber, which could actually slice through any other light saber. This light saber was called the Penari light saber. The Jedi Council considered the light saber too dangerous and it was destroyed with its blueprints. Of even greater note than either Yendar Platis or Crutus Penari was the beautiful Ce Ce Denowai from the planet Rotteron. She had a higher midichlorian count than any female Jedi ever. Of course, the Jedi had to have their clumsier, less intelligent Jedi. The biggest buffoon of the Jedi was Zistar Flamgag.
