This is a place to discuss the strategies, weapons, and vehicles of star wars. I can provide information for most factions, but my specialty is the clone troopers.
Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.

I liked the stratagies of the sith in the battle of ruusan with the thought bomb (i think I misspelled Ruusan)

You spelled it correctly, the thought bomb was a great idea. I have always wondered how starkiller base would have fared if it could launch thought bombs (yielding equal ordinance) instead of the quintessence based cannon.

Good thinking about starkiller base it would just destroyed all who opposed them if it could have launched thought bombs. the only problem i could see would be killing Kylo Ren and the knights of ren.

This is one once discussed in the classic trilogy boards. Why take this ship into battle?

This is the GR-75 Medium Transport. We see it in battle at both Scariff and Endor. It's lightly armed, and generally used as a troop transport.

    From the RoTJ novel:

The two space armadas, like their sea-bound counterparts of another time and galaxy, sat floating, ship to ship, trading broadsides with each other in pointblank confrontation.
Heroic, sometimes suicidal, maneuvers marked the day. A Rebel cruiser, its back alive with fires and explosions, limped into direct contact with an Imperial Star Destroyer before exploding completely—taking the Star Destroyer with it. Cargo ships loaded with charge were set on collision courses with fortress-vessels, their crews abandoning ships to fates that were uncertain, at best.

Seems plausible that the "cargo ships loaded with charge" could be GR-75s.

I don't feel like hashing this out again. We already did it once on the CT boards. ;)[face_laugh]

Then why did you bring the subject up again in the first place?

Can someone explain in their own language of appreciation what a thought bomb is. I'll hope there is a grain of (truthful) metaphor or analogy at its core. Is there an analog in psychological operations, air dropped leaflets, radio hanoi, bene gesserit voice, goebbels-ian hypnosis.

It's a magical trap for souls, ripping souls from bodies and trapping them for hundreds of years until dispelled.

The GR-75 has a good amount of shielding but the shields are ineffective against the laser cannons found on capital ships due to sheer firepower, It is a multi-role transport, medical, troop, supply ship, or just a support ship. The bottom of the ship is very effective at hauling(look at tatooine map in battlefront) there are many crevices to hide heavy cannons. I believe that the most important part of the GR-75 is the how effective it can be at many roles and still be very small.

Another question I have yet to see an answer for is why not use a mass driver rail gun on a fighter to take out capital ships? The hole would serve as a vacuum freezing all personnel in the room, and potentially freezing all crew of the ship.

Legends did have mass driver railguns - but they were mostly ground-based - walkers etc.

Ships have emergency force fields which can be used to plug holes - so one hole in the hull doesn't mean certain death.

This reminds me of the Seperaratist Juicers, that were used for boarding republic ships.

Those remind me a lot of 40K's Dreadclaw boarding craft.

The general idea of "crash your ship into the enemy one and then cut/blast a way in" has a certain amount of sci-fi history.

@clone commander bossk, I believe you are referring to the droch class landing ship shown in the malevolence arc of the clone wars. They use similar principles, expose the interior to the vacuum of space to freeze the crew and everything else.
@ironlord, the shields you are referring to are seen on the planetary shield at scarif, correct? (they are used to seal off areas and obliterate all matter that it comes into contact with. )

Yes i was,but they were also used to board Luminara Unduli's Venator in ''Cloak of Darkness''.

Actually I was thinking more of Rebels and the first episode, the Spark of Rebellion two-parter. Sabine blows a hole in the floor of the Star Destroyer hangar bay, opening it to vacuum. Kallus hits a button as air begins to rush out, and a field goes up over the hole, and air promptly stops rushing out.
