Hey. I recently found an old airsoft gun that I had thought had been thrown away. My first thought upon seeing this was "Ohmigod! This would be great for a prop for my fanfilm!" My second thought was "Oh crap. It's awkwardly sized."

TO elaborate, its an old (well, kindof old) WELL(or Wellfire) Air Pistol Series MP 5A7. It looks like a smaller AK-47 or similar gun, but is still too large in it's current state for a pistol, but not longe enough to pass as a rifle. I'll try to upload a pic in a bit, can't seem to find my camera. Now, obviously there are some problems, and I've tried to fix them.

    1) It has a clip that sticks out...much like the gun it's modeled after. Easily fixed: remove the clip.

    2) Has a stock. Removed it. Fine.

    3) It's slightly bulky. This is only a minor problem, as removing the second handle (see below) should make it less "submachine gun" looking, and more like a large pistol, which is fine (worked for Han!)

4)It has a second grip, that is ( ithink) used to brace yourself when firing it in Full Auto, at least in the real gun, included in the Airsoft gun for realism. This is my biggest problem. If I could remove it, most of my issues would go away! Now, removing a small bar slightly under where the barrel meets the chamber allows me to slide this second grip forward about two or three inches. This makes it easier to hold but only amplifies the aesthetic issue. Unfortunetly, there doesnt seem to be a way to detach it.

I dont want to break the gun. I would prefer to be able to just slide or pop the grip off, but I'm losing hope that theres a way to do so without damaging the gun. I've tried dismantling it, but have been stymied by the grips stubborn refusal to move. If anyone is familiar with the gun I'm talking about, or has suggestions as to how to fix my problem , I'd greatly appreciate it.

Yeah, if you look at many Star Wars Weapons (especially in the Expanded Universe), you'll find that many of them have designs based off of real world weapons.

I've always wanted to make a Proton Carbine from an Airsoft Heckler & Koch G36K.

Not being able to see the gun or the problem makes it difficult to offer any advice.
You might want to post two pictures. One with the grips in their standard posiotion, the other with the grips in their 3-inch alternate position.

Thanks for the attempts at help, guys. I managed to pry it off without much incident with a screwdriver, and now it is merely a very large pistol. It's...not subtle, but it looks effective.
