The first wasn't too great? Comon man, the first X-men movie's opening & ending to the first one was just perfect, very well done IMO. I was MOST pleasantly surprised how well acted, and well directed the movie was! The movie/Dvd ranks truly amoung one of my Favorites!!! But, I'll let you have your Own opinion, :) we are all fans here, no need to argue about it :D

Let's hope the second one kicks Ass 100 times more!!!! YEAH!!!! I am sure you'll Agree!!! ;)

I said it wasn't too great. Meaning I thought it was passable. I did like it but I thought it lacked- however, I knew there would be sequels, so like Spider-Man, I let the first one go as merely plot and character development.

It surely wasn't a bad movie though. :)

Who said I bashed the movie? No but I did CRITICIZE (fairly) some of the idea/decision make by GL (Careless acting directing, cut scenes which I find explain the story more), but overall I liked it a lot! It could have been the best movie this summer (beating Spiderman by miles if it were better), but a shame really it didn't beat Spider-man.

That said I LOVE X-men, the comic and everything MUCH MORE than Spider-man!!! And, I have the same advise for Bryan Singer, don't let Special effects kill good actings (Also on the same token, don't let too much Drama overwhelm Action - Do like 30 minutes or longer in Action). You need to have BOTH balanced to make a Great movie, and Bryan Singer is NOT George Lucas, so I doubt he will be careless about acting like George does!

I think X-men 2 may very well be better than the first. I've heard nothing but good things about it. Its my number one film of next summer to see.

I was wondering also if Love relationship would develop between two Mutants in X-men 2! In the first one, we got a hint that Wolverine is a little interested in Jean Grey right, but Jean Grey is Cyclops... hehehe :D

BTW Kea Wong = Jubilee, Shauna Kain = Siryn!!!

You KNOW X-men 2 IS GONNA Whoop Spider-Man's @$$!!! And, hopefully, our first movie clip will PROVE THAT!!!!!

All this negativity towards George Lucas doesn't pass with me. I'm not turning this thread into a Lucas Defense Post, but I do want to talk about it briefly.

Sometimes, things just don't work out. I mean, in all honesty, some of us weren't there during production. I think Lucas truly cares for acting and direction. I mean, to him, if something seemed wrong, I'd imagine he'd fix it. I'm not saying that everything put out is perfect because the directors didn't find any problems, but sometimes, our judgements and opinions on directing might be totally off dimension with the director.

Personally, I think AOTC was fine in direction, and even acting. Is Natalie Portman the best actress ever? No, but she does carry heavy charm, and she gets the job done. I think she is "maxed out" acting wise, and you know what? Lucas can't do a thing about that now. Hayden...a mixed bag for me. I think he was GREAT in some scenes, and just average in others. Again, it's not Lucas' fault for the directing. Lucas knows what he wants done, and we all may or may not agree with that.

Bryan Singer? Great director. JM22, anyone can be a good director- but sometimes, you can't win at everything. I also think a part of Lucas believes that acting and dialogue should come second in a movie like Star Wars, and freankly I agree. I didn't stand in line anticipating the dialogue, or even the acting. I anticipated the story. The action. The effects. Those three compartments all come together to make Star Wars click.

The prequels have different characters, so it's not like Lucas could magically snap his fingers and get a Harrison Ford, a Carrie Fisher, or a Mark Hamill for the prequels. His casting director is actually more to blame than Lucas. Sure, Lucas gives it the a-ok, but he would be lost without Robin. He was also on a schedule. We all know that we could do a Star Wars movie better than Lucas can- but can we? I don't think so.

If a movie has some iffy acting and dialogue, we immediately trounce on the director's talents. I'm here to defend them by saying that it's really not thier faults'. Lucas can't give Natalie, or Hayden, or anyone else acting lessons. He has a movie to make, and if Natalie and Hayden are there to BEGIN with, then obviously they should be able to efficiently carry out thier jobs.

It's not all Lucas' fault. In fact, a lot of it was out of his hands.

And about Spider-Man being better than Episode II-

I myself didn't think it was. I came out of Spider-Man disappointed. Had too much of a teen feel to it, but I don't blame the faults I had with the film on Raimi. No. Raimi is a highly talented man and he handled Spider-Man PERFECTLY. I just did really...didn't like a lot of what happened.

I respect what you think though, JM22. If you thought AOTC needed improving, then by all means, you think it needed improving. I'm glad you didn't dislike it though. Some people really take dialogue and acting to heart- it IS important to a movies' quality, but does it, at the same time, hurt the movie? I don't think so.

Listen man, when Anakin was dreaming about his mother, I cringed. The whole fireplace scene was cringe inducing. But did I blame that on Lucas? Nah. Partly the script, partly the actors. More of the dialogue though. Sean Connery couldn't have turned "I am scarred by the kiss you should never have given me" into ANYTHING good. BUT people seem to blame it ALL ON HAYDEN. He is like...20 something- not a highly trained actor.

    Why blame it on him?

Also, Portman is only older than me by a few years- and you know, she does a better acting job than I could EVER even dream of doing.

So, when you find faults with a movie, try not to blame it on the director, or even the actors. Bad acting and dialogue does not constitute bad directing.

Anyway, continue with X2 stuff. :)

X2 = MY MOST ANTICIPATED MOVIE OF 2003!!!

The first was SO AWESOME, I Swear to GOD, I demanded a series being made because IMO, X-men the comic has the Potential of many movies, because so many cool heros.

Say, you could like have each mutant have most action/Drama scenes in ONE film, so we fully understand this character, then in the next film have another Mutant owns most screen time, and so on we could end up with 10+ X-men movies, but that would been silly! You have to condense them, so I would say about 3-4 X-men movies is the WAY TO GO!!!

Of course, the 1st one was already Amazing, and let's see how the 2nd one does. And, we know we want each successor to top the previous one, don't we? Sentitels and A LOT of Gambit in the third one, probably!

Bryan Singer has making sure he hire actor who could act! That's a huge bonus man. Cuz, Kea Wong, and Shauna Kain had some acting experiences :)

I am not sure what the clip will be, but I hope it's a combination of great acting/Great Action to Tease us

Ok, THIS thread is going to CHANGE topic to "Cool News/Footages from 2002 San Diego Comic-Con!!!". I I can't change myself now, because I can't edit the title. I think rather than just discuss the NEW X-men footage, I should discuss the Four Day 2002 Comic Convention going on RIGHT now in San Diego. So, this thread is NOT a replacement for this thread NOR is it an Addon thread for this X-men thread.

    What Star Wars Toys??

As one of the question asked WAS the Jedi Master points.

One long-time collector hefted several plastic bags full of cardboard squares to illustrate his question. "I have 4,880 Jedi Master Points," he began. "When are you going to do something with them?"

"We constantly talk about this," said Popper. "We're trying to come up with the right program to use the points for. We have some ideas on the table that we're working pretty hard on. Possibly, we could have a program in place by the fall, but it's too early to get into it." Popper assured that the points themselves would be of value, and would not necessitate an accompanying receipt.

    AS ALWAYS, ***SPOILER ALERT***

Hey there. Thought I would give you some info on the X-Men 2 at the San Diego Comic Con.

The X-Men 2 panel was freakin' fantastic. X2 Director, Bryan Singer came to preview some early footage of the film. Lots of quick (and interesting) shots. There were scenes showing Professor X and Magneto talking in prison, quick glimpses of Pyro blowing up a car, and Anne aka Yuriko aka Lady Deathstrike holding a gun in her hand. There were some sweet shots of Wolverine. One showed him crashing through a window and the last shot of the preview showed Logan running towards the screen with his claws ready to strike. That scene was just...WOW! A very quick glimpse of Cyclops was shown as well as a scene with Rogue yelling something like: "There's gonna kill him". There was lots of footage showing an invasion of the mansion where guys with guns are creeping up on the students at the school. I can already tell that this sequel is a little bit darker than the first X-Men.

Just four weeks of shooting and what I've seen so far looks amazing. Bryan was funny as hell and I truly think that he is an excellent Director for the X-Men universe.

The same goes for DareDevil, the last one was for X-men 2... :D OH  It's driving me nuts reading these descriptions.

    Once again ***Clip Spoiler Warnings!!!***

Just got back for San Diego Comic Con, and thought you might want to know what happened during the Daredevil Panel.

DD Director, Mark Steven Johnson was on stage along-side Mr. Ben Affleck himself (which was a BIG surprise). Johnson previewed some never before DD footage for thousand-plus crowd. The clip was much longer than I expected and made me want to see this movie even more!

    SPOILER INFO BELOW!!!!!!

This montage of DD footage first started out with an orgin scene of Matt Murdock as a child getting douched with Toxic chemicals that eventually cause him to go blind. Later we see footage of a boxing ring fight. A young Murdock is sitting on the shoulders of whom appears to be his dad. The young Murdock is shown wearing red devil child cloathing/costume. After that a scene of his father being killed which slowly pulls away to reveal the young Murdock (holding his father on the ground) looking at his red devil costume which is laying on the grond. After that quick action shots of Daredevil fighting some guys in a bar, Bullseye riding a motorcycle toward Daredevil (Very Cool), Kingpin...standing there and Elektra...woah...Jennifer Garner is perfect for the role in my eyes. There were some scene's with her fighting Daredevil and a quick shot of Bullseye (/w Elektra's Sais) getting ready to do SOMETHING BAD to Ms. Natchios (Elektra).

    END SPOILERS!!!!

Ben Affleck and the films director discussed how the DD movie will be very true to the comic, although some of the outfits look different. Director Johnson even stated that he wanted Bullseye to have his comic costume in the film, but he later realized it would look goofy on the big screen.

    It was quite an experience!
