Okay, this one is for fans of both Star Wars and Marvel Comics:

Could a lightsaber cut through adamantium? In other words, could Lord Vader slice Wolverine's arm off?

Could a saber slash through vibranium, or adamantium/vibranium blends? Could Obi-Wan cut Captain America's shield in half?

How about uru? Could Yoda hack through Mjolnir?

And lastly, what about super-dense ostensibly "invulnerable" flesh? Could Mace Windu plunge his blade into the heart of Superman or the Hulk? (I know Superman is DC, which I barely touched growing up, but I had to put his name in there).

My answer to all of these questions would be "Yes", except maybe Mjolnir. As far as I know, it would take some sort of energy field to stop a lightsaber, but I'm interested in y'all's opinions.

I think it would definately take longer than a blast sheild to cut through and there is no way any of those characters would sit around and let it just happen, but yeah you can't stop light.

He wouldn't have to. Vader could just choke Wolvie to death, from a distance.

    I bet it would.

that's a good question, and one that i've given some consideration to myself. i think that adamantium might just pass the test. those electrostaffs that belong to the general grievous' bodyguards are supposed to be made of some rare phrick alloy or someting, and they can stand up to lightsabers. and i also believe that excalibur and the master sword from the ledgend of zelda could hold their own against a saber. they're more than just metal after all.

Wolverine has stood up to celestials with that metal, so no Lightsaber could ot cut through it.

I've often thought about who would win between Link and Anakin, and I believe that the Master Sword's inherent abilities would stand up to the test of a lightsaber. The real question is which mystical blade is more powerful, the Master Sword or Excalibur. :p

Okay truebelievers, according to the Marvel Universe there are at least two kinds of adamantium: true adamantium and secondary adamantium. True adamantium is very hard to destroy. That's like Cap's shield (although there's vibranium in there as well) and the stuff fused with Wolvie's bones

I'm not sure how those lab guys managed to fuse the metal to Logan's skeleton, but the very fact that they were able to implies that it has a melting point. I'd bet a lightsaber can get hot enough to do the job, but it would probably take prolonged exposure. Still, I don't think that Wolvie could successfully hold a saber at bay with his claws for too long before we started to see some effect.

Secondary adamantium is weaker. This has been destroyed at various times by Thor's hammer, Blastaar's energy bolts, Iron Man's energy bolts, and the Overkill horn. This stuff then, a lightsaber should make short work of.

Axle! Wow! You actually brought up the Master Sword from the Legend of Zelda! I haven't thought of that for a while!

Mandalore - Good point! But refresh my memory: When did the Celestials try to melt Wolvie's skeleton? I didn't think the "mighty of the universe" would sully themselves with something as trivial as that. Did they just pop him with a quick burst of energy to sort of slap him aside, or did they really make a concerted effort to damage his bones and fail?

I'd be surprised if beings of "untold cosmic power" couldn't simply change the molecular structure of the metal turning it into pudding if they so desired. After all, adamantium is man made (by the US govt. according to the Marvel Universe), so beings like the Celestials could certainly destroy it if they wished.

As for the close-to-invulnerable crew (Superman, Hulk, Wonderman, etc.) I think a lightsaber would sink right into them. If that Doomsday guy can punch through Superman's skin with those bony protrusions, so could a saber.

Lets just say who would want to cut through Wolverine. I know i wouldnt. But still i think it could be done.

From my understanding, adamantium starts out melted, but once it solidifies, it's unbreakable.

In KOTOR, leastways (I know, EU, bad example) the average everyday swords are made from cortosis, metal capable of withstanding lightsaber blows. If we go on that, we can assume that adamantium could be able to withstand the saber's attacks.

considering that in X2 striker said adimantium is indestructable, i would say no, lightsabers can't cut through it.

The Hulk broke admantium with his fists. A lightsaber can cut through admantium, though it would meet some resistance. Like a spoon trying to get a scoop of frozen ice cream.

If the Hulk really punched through it with his fists then a lightsaber could for sure.

Onslaught wore Admantium Armor, and the Hulk went berserker on it and cracked his armor. That right there, says admantium is destructable. A lightsaber is indestructable. Therefore, a lightsaber will cut through it.
