Would it make the blade explode since its so strong?Or would it deflect?

It would probably be roughly akin to trying to deflect a crashing airplane with a buckler.

No. It cant even deflect a TIE Fighter blast. In YJK: Jedi Under SIege, Tenel ka cant deflect it and she says how she had to dodge instead of deflect.

I'm sure a lightsaber could deflect PART of it once.

The rest is pretty much what Mas said.

a part, but the force that makes he turbolaser flies that fast, makes it hard to deflect....

No, I don't think it could.

Depends on what kind of turbolaser, I think.

The Falcon has "turbolasers." Although they are really just quad-laser cannons.

I think AT-ATs guns qualify as turbolasers, being that they are "turbo"lasers. :) They blew up the shield generator in TESB pretty quick. And Luke deflected an AT-ATs shots pretty easily in Dark Empire. Although that might not have been concentrated or fully charged fire.

Mastadge's annalogy works well with something the size of the guns on an Imperial Star Destroyer or the Death Stars.

I think the turbo-lasers he's talking about are the anti-shipping, big-as-office block types.

Yeah, I'd have to go with a "no" as well, as the lightsaber can probably only deflect roughly it's width in laser beam... an AT-AT cannon was probably at the EXTREME upper range of that, but remember -- Luke didn't need the lighsaber. He was absorbing the shots just fine on his own...

OK, but what about a really big lightsaber?

They could design a robotic arm with a huuuuuuge lightsaber and strap it to the front of a star destroyer. Then have a jedi put on some kind of motion sensor glove and voila! Death star blast deflection.

    (tongue firmly in cheek)

Turbolaser shots coming off of say, a Star Destroyer, are very large in size and power, see as how a single shot can destroy a fighter. So if a fighter's sheilds cant stop it, then a lightsaber definately cannot.

the whole beam. No A part of it yes. A lightsaber isn't big enough to take it all on

As far as technology goes, if the person was strong enough to support the physical force of impact, I think the saber could deflect the laser, for the width of the blade only, the hand and person holding it would vaporized though

I think that you can fit a small Hutt into a turbolaser barrel, not deflect one of it's bolts with a lightsaber.

A jedi trying to deflect a turbolaser bolt would be a sad, but pretty funny thing to see.

i think it's like trying to hold back a frieght train with a 2x4, it aint going to happen.

you can deflect the part the lightsaber contacts, but turbo laser bolts are a meter wide.

In a KJA book, yes. Otherwise, no.
