I just came to wondering - and I apologize if a thread was already created as I only joined last week BUT with Count Dooku I think one may have noticed whilst he may have been: 1.) Jedi, 2.) Sith Lord, 3.) Aristocrat of FANTASTIC WEALTH and such ... BUT with the Sith Lord part - true he trained under Palpatine and he had Darth Tyrannus as the Sith Moniker YET then again isn't it interesting for a Sith Lord and one of Count Dooku's caliber he:

1.) Keeps his cool; unlike Palpatine or Anakin whom are more than 'Force-Happy' when worked up ...
2.) Lack of Sith Yellow Eyes of Rage ... he gets angry YES BUT he still doesn't get anywhere as nasty or enraged as Palpatine ... or Anakin ...
3.) The supposed 'Passion Peace is a Lie' concept whereas Count Dooku rather projects an aura of authority if not arrogance though ...
4.) His references at times where he still remarked of 'Sifo Diya's ideals' ... or where in his comments to Master Yoda 'I have become more powerful than any other Jedi...' or where to Obi-Wan Kenobi 'My Jedi Powers are Far Above Yours...'
5.) How he 'considered' rejoining Master Yoda and the Jedi Order during the Mission to Vjun ...

If confidence and emotion made a Force user Sith all such users would be Sith. I don't consider Dooku Jedi or Sith. He knew neither was wholly sound. He is a Force user that doesn't need such limiting labels.

Hello again! I just had a thought and always wondered then given Count Dooku - and how at times he was 'different' to the Sith ... but then again Darth Nihilus 'didn't give a Force' about the Sith himself or its doctrines ...

P.S. How'd you enjoy your poem on Grand Moff Tarkin? :)

I don't think Dooku fully embraced the ways of the Sith, going only by the movies portrayal.
We aren't shown him joining Palpatine and I hope we aren't by Disney because I think they'd give me something I don't like.

-I like to think he left the Jedi order because of being dissatisfied with some of it's ways and lost his way and became corrupted by Palpatine who exploited him.

-That look in ROTS and his acceptance of death could perhaps be him starting to realize how evil Palpatine was and if given the chance he would have changed the error in his ways and renounced the Sith.
He wouldn't have been a Jedi or Sith, but I think he would feel remorse over killing Jedi and perhaps work with them occasionally. Even those with different views can get along.

Dooku grew up with the Jedi so I can imagine he had some feelings for some of them even though he disagreed with them.

That is very sweet of you. Perhaps a Dooku and Tarkin piece exploring a possible bond (given that Chris and Peter were good mates?) I enjoy when people are willing to give depth to characters most consider unworthy of attention. :)

Hello again! Well - then again if we look at clips in the Clone Wars where he 'kneels before Palpatine' and how in AOTC he greets Palpatine in The Works to discuss 'I bring good news my Lord ... the War has begun or We are At War...' along those lines ... so we probably get bits and pieces and ideas what it was like when he joined Palpatine ...

Yes - also Count Dooku - don't forget being from wealthy proud parents of Serreno he obviously still had some pride and such feelings of entitlements when he was accepted into the Jedi Order at a young age ... and yet how even as a Jedi Master himself he was one of the most outspoken Jedi and one whom had interest in Galactic Politics - something the Jedi normally wouldn't be that associated with ...

And how Count Dooku did see the Republic being Corrupted and how also how the death of Qui-Gon Jinn ... PLUS also a disastrous battle on Galidraan which shook his faith in the Jedi Order at times ... and a bit of this and that ... and how actually at one point he considered hunting down the Sith (well Palpatine) BUT he then realized the Galaxy was fated for change and how Palpatine later met him and where Count Dooku realized his views were not too different form Palpatine's at that time ... and how he met Darth Plagueis at one point ... plus also in the Clone Wars Cartoons of the Lost Missions Count Dooku claimed how 'Sifo Diyas understood!' and his ideals ... or even in Season 3 or 4 of the Clone Wars where Anakin asked Count Dooku 'WHY BRING THE WAR TO NABOO DOOKU?!' and Count Dooku replied 'SITH CONTROL EVERYTHING! YOU JUST DON'T KNOW IT!' ...

Well - Count Dooku WANTED to 'convert Obi-Wan' to join him - trying to compel him into how the Galactic Republic was fated for change in AOTC and how Count Dooku also had remarks about Qui-Gon Jinn at times ... and how in Master Yoda's vision where he saw how Count Dooku was 'Master Dooku' and in a world where things were still alright - and yet how Obi-Wan in the vision enthusiastically remarked how Count Dooku - well 'Master Dooku' when he was still Master Yoda's Padawan where they went to Kashyyk and encountered the Terrantatek ... and implying he and Yoda afterall were once Master and Student they may have had 'happy times' when he was still a young Padawan of Master Yoda and how Master Yoda remarked in AOTC 'much to learn you still have my old Padawan ...'

So many great stories of Dooku that I would love to see expanded on. I'm sure I am missing out on some great books as well. I would love to see a spinoff movie of him, either before TPM or even after, showing his search to destroy the Sith, but eventually joining them.

The Sith Camp posted: ". and how he met Darth Plagueis at one point " Now I would love more information on this meeting if anyone has it!

I feel like if we were to get a scenario of Dooku, Sifo Dyas, Qui Gon, and other Jedi could have started their own order, and it would have been a treat to see how it would have evolved. Whether or not Palpatine would have joined them to start the new order or would they have been his enemy? Interesting subject matter for me anyways.

I think Dooku thought he was just pretending to be a Sith, and that he was actually working undercover to destroy the Sith from within. His plan was to use Sidious to gain as much power as he could, and then eventually kill Sidious and take over as the benevolent ruler of the galaxy. The problem is, that's exactly how a real Sith apprentice would think and act. You can't destroy the Sith from within without actually becoming a Sith yourself. Dooku found this out the hard way, and later, so did Anakin.

TCW makes Dooku seem more like a Sith than the movies; seems a little more ruthless and evil.

However, I like the fact that Dooku is different in that regard. Just like Palpatine exploited Anakin's fear, he exploited Dooku's idealist goals. For Dooku, he is trying to justify the means with the end. He probably did not think Palpatine was that bad until he was suddenly betrayed in ROTS.

He was definitely a Sith. There is a whole vast chasm between 'not as bad as Sidious' and 'a good person' and he falls firmly into the baddie category, he's more sympathetic than many SW villains and his motives more relatable and understandable than Palpatine style 'evil for evil's sake' but he's still a villain. He got played by Palpatine for sure and I doubt he set off down the path realising where it would lead him, but as with Anakin, it was entirely his own choices that lead him there.

He's a Sith. The fact that Sidious made him his apprentice and bestowed him a Sith name should be enough proof.

Agreed Alexrd. If Darth Sidious himself considers you a Sith, that pretty much settles the deal as far as I'm concerned. Savage Oppress, Asajj Ventress, the other 'fallen' Jedi (like Pong Krell), these were all Dark Side users but they never got 'official' Sith status and title. Dooku did. He's a Sith.

Ventress sort of had "official" Sith title for a while. Sidious ordered Dooku to kill his apprentice. If she was considered the apprentice of a Sith for a time, then she could be considered as Sith for that time. Just like an apprenitce of a Jedi can be conisdered a Jedi

But yeah, I see what you are saying. Just wanted to say that bit.

I guess. But I just always assumed that until you got to call yourself Darth whatever then sorry you're not Sith enough. Same as Padawans are on the same side as the Jedi but aren't actually Jedi proper.

Good point. Dooku never bothered calling her Darth Ventress. He just called her Ventress.

Let's just say she had 50/50 Sith status. Sounds good to me at least.

Well Dooku was a bit odd in that he very rarely got called Tyrannus by anyone, it was always Dooku.

It's not up to him though. There can only be a maximum of two Sith Lords, and he was the apprentice.

Also people, it's Tyranus, not Tyrannus.

Just as characters can be loosely called "Jedi" (even by one another) while being Padawans, maybe one doesn't have to be a Sith Lord, to be called "Sith".
