I think right now I have a love-hate relationship with the movie. I absolutely love certain parts of it and hate others. Unfortuntaely I thought the dialogue was unusually bad, even for a Star Wars movie.

    1. "Lord Vader will become even more powerful than me"--Is that really something a Sith would boast about?

    2. "I sense Lord Vader is in trouble"--Well, that certainly is convienent.

    3. The way Padme names her kids. She sounds like she cares about as much as if she were barcoding soup cans.

    4. "NOOOOO"-Enough said

    Thoughts?

I agree with 3 and 4 (but with the NOOO!!!!!, just go with it man, he's upset and still young and awkward)

At least no one would be very "grumpy" this time about the dialogue.

Pretty much everything Padme said except for the "My heart is broken..." Lucas cannot write romance. No biggie, he doesn't come across as a lady's man.

Your #1 line isnt even quoted correctly, and your crazy for #2 and 3.

#4 is debatable, I actually liked it better then I thought I would just because I had heard it was so bad, and it wasnt, it just wasnt super-awesome like you think Vader screaming would be.

The romance scenes are short though, and even though the dialogue suffers a bit, the lines are still given out with much more scinerity from thier actors, which helps alot.

Real romance isn't like the Hollywood version of romance. Real romance is awkward and cheesy. I think Lucas got it spot on for the most part.

I'll admit Lucas has always had trouble writing exposition lines but I expect that from Star Wars. In my mind, that's just how they talked back then.

Maybe Vader screaming makes it even more sad, because through his demented form and the mask he can't even sound human any more...

The only thing that seemed weird to me was Palpatine's "weakness" before Anakin turned on Mace. I believe he was faking, although he may still have lost the duel, I think he still had plenty of fight left in him at that point. He seemed like the old lady on the alert bracelet commercial who fell and couldn't get up. Other than that, nothing bothered me.

I was put off by that too, Ewok. I seriously thought that Palpatine was just messing around with Mace and was about to go ape-**** on him.

The only line I found cringed-worthy was "Hold me... Like you did back at that lake in Naboo."

There was another romance line, but I forgot it. Thank God.

I think at first Palpatine is not a true Sith, just a grumpy old man who has done some exploring into it. He feels a real attachment to Vader (I think at this point he feels they will be together for a long time and really does intend to help Padme).

As far as the baby naming thing, it was rushed but in this one case it made sense. Remember, she is dying and in a lot of pain. And I bet she had names picked out already. She probably wanted it done before she died.

Every line spoken by James Earl Jones was useless.

He was faking badly, that was the point that it was so over the top that you were supposed to know he had plenty of power left, especially with the power, unlimited power afterwards. It was all for Anakin's benefit.

Most of the dialogue was actually surprisingly good, and reidicoulously good compared to the first 2 of the final trilogy.

    2. "I sense Lord Vader is in trouble"--Well, that certainly is convienent.

Yes, it is convient. If you haven't noticed, in most of the films, the ability to use the force is invoked whenever it's convient. It's a plot device. Especially when it comes to sensing things through the force. And this is especially true when you are speaking of two character that have strong connection.

For me the worst line in the entire film was Bail Organa saying that he and his wife always wanted a girl or to adopt a girl.

I was thinking to myself, should he not have said, "I would like to adopt the girl. My wife and I are unable to have children, and we always wanted a girl"

    Darth Sin!

There were a few such lines uttered by Anakin, Mace, and Obi-Wan.

None of your "chosen four" induced a single cringe out of me. Maybe they will on repeat viewings.

Example, I didn't cringe for Han Solo's lameass lines in 'Jedi' when I first saw it. Nowadays I count about a dozen cringes from General "left my humor on Cloud City" Solo.

While watching this movie there were several times when I stopped and said to myself, "wow, this movie doesn't suck as much as the other prequels," and then I said, "wow, the dialogue isn't pathetic, either."

And then the battle droids would say "UH-OH!" before getting hit with the elevator and I'd say "DAMMIT!"

And then the medical robot would say, "she's lost her will to live," and I'd say "DAMMIT!"

And Jar-Jar would say "excueese me," and I'd say "DAMMIT!"

The medical droid one made me laugh out loud at how stupid the line and the premise of Padme's death was.

Also, I think they went a little overboard on Yoda's backwards-talk when he was facing Sidious....

Padme going "Anakin, Obi Wan told me youve turned to the DARKSIDE!!!" in this really concerned voice, but just the way she said it was extremely overdramatic

Anything said by Padme should have ended up on the cutting room floor. I was especially disapppointed with her since she was the end reason for Anakin going Sith.

Yes, overdramatic, because after all, it's no big deal.

Yes, some of the lines were terrible! One of my personal favourites was:

As Anakin stares at Padme on the balcony, he says:

    "You're so...beautiful..."

    Some moments where I cringed...

    The No!!!! line

The scene where Anakin is telling Padme how beautiful she is and how much she loves her. No I'm didn't cringe as a result of the lines (I liked them unlike most). The thing that made me cringe during this scene was the way Padme looked. The makeup/lighting crew messed up on this one. When she turned around to face the camera...she did not look pretty.

I wish both Jackson and Ian both would have looked a little more fluid with their saber skills. (just a minor thing though)

Based on performances though I thought they were almost perfect. There were a few lines/looks from Mace/Jackson that I didn't like, but for the most part everyone did a great job. Going into the movie there were some concerns about some of Padme's lines from the trailers, but they work in the movie and they are done well.

There were few lines that made me cringe.

During The Duel, Obi Wan jumps on the cliff. "Anakin! I have the highground!"

    That made me snigger.
