Curious about something

I was wondering. Is there some canon way for one race to go from being say a Twi'lek and then to become a human? For a being to change races like that? Is there a canon and possible way?

 

Well, depends...

A human can become just about anything with complex prosthetics and whatnot, but if you're talking about a Twi'lek becoming a human that would require a lot of surgery. The lekku are highly sensitive and used in mating rituals -- it'd be like cutting your own genitals off. It's probably not a fun procedure. You'd also have to cope with a completely different cranial structure, and the brain might even be a different shape.

In comics and RPG sourcebooks, I've seen various races use holographic projectors to appear whatever race they'd like. That might be an option. And having one's skin/hair/eyes changed to a different color is a relatively simple procedure.

With the Vong, I imagine that anything's possible. Extra limbs, limbs from other species, organs from other species -- it seems that Shapers can do just about anything, and in the wildest realm of possibilities, they might be able to make one race look like a vastly different race.

And then there are a few shapeshifting races, too. There's Clawdites (Zam Wesell), and Gen'Dai (Durge). Although, Gen'Dai aren't shapeshifters per se, but you can chop pieces off of them, and they can regenerate them at will.

Other than what Zoom referenced, I don't think I've ever seen anything in EU. And I've read a lot of EU. So I'd say than canon-wise, not really. Unless you're a clawdite.
