Dana Carvey and Master Of Disguise movie

Oh man, Dava Carvey is CRACKING ME UP right now on Regis Philman & Kelly Ripa. Who else being watching?

Oh, I always loved Dana's performances, and I used to think he is the funnist man alive. Probably still is, not really sure. Anyway, he has a new movie - "Master of disguise" coming out, which I will NOT miss.

 

The trailer for that movie scared me even more than the Like Mike trailer.

I actually did laugh at some parts, so it can't be ALL bad. I'm sure it'll be better than Dr. Dolittle 2. They put the only good jokes that were in the movie into the trailer. That movie just dragged oooooooonnn and oooonnnnn

 

I saw a preview for this when I saw Spider-Man and felt like I was a captive audience member! This preview was like being kneed in the crotch for about two minutes straight. This looks really dumb and gives off a vibe that Dana Carvey is trying to make his own Austin Powers type franchise. Unfortunately, AP was nowhere near as annoying as this characters seems. The PG rating makes me think the movie is geared more towards children than anything else, so I doubt it would appeal to me much. While children's films can be good, childish humor can get annoying.

 

It is hard to judge the comedic strength of this film just from the trailer. Certain characterizations (such as the 'turtle' club) floor me, but will the movie have enough substance to flow well, or will it try to ride solely on the humor of his different characters? That's the question.

I would like to see it, but since I don't get out much, and there are other films that take higher priority, I will probably have to wait for the rentals.

I think I am going to tell you a minor Spoiler here, don't read if you don't want to know below.








The reason he is so many characters in the movie, is because he imitates those people who make fun of him! Like the Turtle dude, I am sure there is another guy looks like a Turtle, made fun of Dana Carvey in another disguise haha!

 

This is one of those movies that looks like it's going to be so damned stupid, it ends up being funny.

I saw a clip of it last night, he's dresses up as a snake charmer, and when he picks up his piccolo, he starts playing Kenny G.

 

I'd be willing to bet it's going to suck, but Dana Carvey doing the turtle guy is one of the funniest damn things I've ever seen.

Amazing.

wow... i don't know... i thought this movie looked horrible (From what i've seen in previews). Who knows. I'll see it eventually, probably. but no one i know is really excited to see it.

I'm not sure abouth this one...Dana Carvey hasn't done a movie in a long time and his last one stunk. It was about him being a con artist and impersonating somebody.....

 

Carvey said he did it for his kids, which I can dig. At least he admitted that it's a kid's movie. Either that or during a test screening he saw the audience's lame reaction to his movie and quickly decided that it was a kid's movie despite it being rated PG.

I hope you have a widescreen, otherwise you're only getting half the picture, if you know what I mean.


That's right, the other half featured a crime fighting dinosaur.

 

Dammit, B'omarr! I just laughed so loud that my whole branch turned around and looked at me!

Close. Actually, the crime fighting dinosaur would be my rival. Also, he's only three days from retirement.

 

LMM, I hate to burst your bubble but Tim Burton does weird movies and fantasy type stuff. Robbing gas stations naked wearing a cowboy hat, holding a Pez dispenser with a crime fighting dinosaur is more Oliver Stones forte'.

edit: 3 days from retirement? get serious B'omarr..nobody would buy that.

I think the above story, tentatively titled "Bandito en el Buff vs. el Grande Iguana", would be better directed by David Lynch.

I'm guessing Dana Carvey's movie will be as funny and successful as all his other one's.
