Dark Forces mod for Jedi Academy - 3 level demo

The long awaited 2nd demo for the Dark Forces mod for JA is presently uploading to lucasfiles.com!

We've managed to get a release package together that will satisfy people of all platforms, languages - but probably not all internet connections. At the moment the release stands at 205 megs. The demo will be a downloadable .zip file - hosted by our network friends over at LucasFiles.com. In the .zip you'll find an .exe file, a .pk3 file and the documentation (readme, license info etc..) that accompanies the demo. Windows users are strongly encouraged to use the installer - the mod won't function properly otherwise! The .pk3 is external to the .exe for the sake of our Mac friends. Unfortunately, as no-one on the team is a Mac user, we don't officially support the Mac platform. Mac users are therefore on their own getting it to work.

We've fixed all the bugs that we can - the release will ship with a few "known" bugs; most of these are either impossible to fix without better tools, or minor problems we'll fix with a later patch. This *is* a demo after all! Fracman has finished the installer, and is in the process of uploading the package to the team ftp, so that we can test it internally. That shouldn't take too long - then it's simply a case of getting the file uploaded onto LucasFiles.com and hitting the submit button!

You do realise I'm on 56k so it will take me as long as it would you to DL it, and then to burn it, and send it 1000km.

Is there an internet cafe you could visit to download the file and burn it onto a CD. At a reasonable internet cafe you could probably download it in about 20 minutes.

 

Hey, at last!

Now I have to get some free space in disk (bye bye NWN), find my 'Jedi Academy' and reinstall it, and finally ask a friend to download the mod. Easy.

Where is the damn bridge control panel in Talay?

 

It took me forever to find my way through Talay. Extreme darkness + no way to light up dark areas + no map = a very annoyed me.

 

So where's the bridge control, Jeff?

I've got to the generator where kyle says the controls must be around somewhere, a staircase leads down to the pool. There's another way to the water past an R5 droid, and I've swum around the generator lugs, but I have no idea where the switch is to extend the bridge.

Well, there's always the brightness control in the game setup options, adjusted with your monitor contrast...

 

I just know that I found the bridge control eventually. I couldn't describe how to get there. Playing the original version of the level might help, I guess.

 

Meh. Can yo urecall if it's 'outside' on the edge of the reservoir (or in a room overlooking the reservoir), or a bit away from that area inside in some dark little room?

 

I think it's in a room overlooking the reservoir.

 

Ahh, my problem was that I hadn't turned the generator on, missed the exit through the cantina to the other side of the main bridge.

All good, all good.

Was even better when the lights came on and I could finally see all my textures in-game (I'm most proud of the DT Pods).
